Boat mishap: Actors Guild of Nigeria suspends Nollywood producer, ‘Another side of Life’

… bans movie shoots in Riverine areas

The producer of Nollywood Movie, ‘Another side of Life’, Adamma Luke

has been suspended indefinitely.

No actor is allowed to work with her as producer till further notice.

The suspension came after the ill-fated boat mishap which occured at the riverine area during a movie cast that led to the death of Nollywood actor, Junior Pope, and others.

This decision was contained in a statement signed by Actors  Guild of Nigeria’s (AGN) president, Emeka Rollas on Thursday as outraged  Nigerians especially Nollywood fans believe the incident was preventable if safety checks had been in place during the shooting.

In a statement suspending Luke, producer of the ill-fated movie, the AGN also placed an indefinite ban on all movie shoots involving riverine areas and boat rides in the country.
According to the statement; “The leadership of the Guild has taken the following decisions: (1) All films that involve riverine areas and boat riding are at this moment suspended indefinitely; and (2) no shoot on all locations Nationwide on Thursday, 11 April 2024”.
Furthermore, the statement emphasized, “(3)The film titled ‘Another Side of Life’ is suspended indefinitely; (4) No actor is allowed to work with Adamma Luke as a producer till further notice; and (5) While we keep searching for the bodies of the remaining persons, may their souls rest in peace.
Meanwhile, the Anambra State Police Command has confirmed recovering three more bodies from the boat mishap involving a movie cast that Nollywood star Junior Pope Odonwodo got drowned on Wednesday, April 10, 2024.
