Radda Inaugurates Amana Microfinance Bank Board to Strengthen Financial Inclusion in Katsina

Governor Dikko Umaru Radda has inaugurated the governing board of Amana Microfinance Bank as part of ongoing efforts to enhance and reposition the state-owned financial institution for improved service delivery.

The ceremony, held at the Government House in Katsina, is in line with regulatory guidelines of the Central Bank of Nigeria for microfinance institutions.

Addressing the newly constituted board, Governor Radda described its members as seasoned professionals with proven integrity and extensive experience in the banking sector.

He noted that both executive and independent directors were carefully selected to ensure effective management and sustainable growth of the bank.

Expressing confidence in their capabilities, the governor urged the board to leverage their expertise to advance the institution’s mandate and deliver meaningful impact to the people of Katsina State.

He announced Muntaka Badaru Jikamshi as Chairman of the Board, while the bank’s Managing Director, Umar Zubairu, will serve as Secretary.

Other members include Malik Anas, Mohammed Lawal Mukhtar, Dr Mohammed Bashir Ruwa Godiya, Dr Bello Mohammed, and Badiyya Hassan Mashi.

The Governor’s Special Adviser on Banking and Finance, Bilkisu Sulaiman Ibrahim, will participate as an observer.

Governor Radda further disclosed that the state government has injected additional capital into the bank, raising its capital base to about N1 billion to enable it operate fully as a state microfinance institution.

He added that reforms have been introduced to reposition the bank to better meet the financial needs of residents, particularly in underserved areas and for government agencies lacking access to commercial banking services.

Congratulating the board members, the governor urged them to carry out their responsibilities with dedication and prayed for their success.

In his response, Chairman Jikamshi commended the governor’s commitment to economic development and entrepreneurship, noting that initiatives such as the Katsina State Enterprise Development Agency reflect a clear vision for supporting small and medium-scale enterprises.

He described the bank’s recapitalisation as a strategic move and assured that the board would work diligently to achieve its objectives for the benefit of the state.

The inauguration ceremony attracted top government officials and key stakeholders across Katsina State.
