The family of the National Secretary of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Comrade Wasila Ibrahim Ladan, and the Chairperson of the NAWOJ Jigawa State Chapter, Comrade Hauwa Ibrahim Ladan, has received condolence visits from the Kano State Government and the national leadership of the Association following the death of their mother, Hajiya Sadiya Ibrahim Ladan.
Leading the Kano State Government delegation to the family residence in Kuntau, Kano State, the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Abdullahi Ibrahim Waiya, conveyed the condolences of the Executive Governor of Kano State, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, describing the deceased as a compassionate, selfless and exemplary woman whose life was devoted to serving humanity.
The Commissioner said the late Hajiya Sadiya Ibrahim Ladan was a remarkable unifier whose home was open to people from all walks of life, irrespective of their status or background.
According to him, although she had retired from active medical practice, she remained committed to caring for the sick and the vulnerable whenever the need arose, reflecting her enduring compassion and generosity.
He further described her as a deeply religious, principled and upright woman who stood firmly for truth, justice and righteousness, noting that the values of discipline, integrity, hard work and faith she instilled in her children are evident in their lives and contributions to society.
On behalf of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, the Commissioner prayed Almighty Allah (SWT) to forgive the deceased’s shortcomings, accept her good deeds, grant her eternal rest in Aljannatul Firdaus, and comfort the bereaved family during this difficult time.
Responding on behalf of the family and NAWOJ, the National Chairperson, Comrade Aisha Ibrahim, expressed profound appreciation to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and the Kano State Government for the show of love and solidarity. She described the visit as a demonstration of compassionate leadership and thanked friends, associates, colleagues, well-wishers and members of the public for their prayers and support since the passing of their mother.
In a separate condolence visit, Comrade Aisha Ibrahim also led a delegation of senior NAWOJ officials to the family residence to sympathise with the National Secretary and the Jigawa State Chairperson over the irreparable loss.
She was accompanied by the Zonal Secretary of NAWOJ Zone A, Comrade Daharatu A. Aliyu; the Chairperson of the NAWOJ Kano State Chapter, Comrade Bahijja Kabara; the Chairperson of the NAWOJ Kaduna State Chapter, Comrade Sahura Maidoki; the Treasurer of the NAWOJ Jigawa State Chapter, Comrade Nafisa Hassan; the chapter’s Financial Secretary, Comrade Sadiya I. Musa; and her Senior Special Assistant on Special Duties and Projects, Comrade Sarah Ogodo.
During the visit, the NAWOJ National Chairperson described the late Hajiya Sadiya Ibrahim Ladan as a pious, virtuous and God-fearing woman whose prayers, guidance and unwavering support played a significant role in the successes recorded by her daughters. She prayed that Almighty Allah grants her Aljannatul Firdaus and gives the family the strength and fortitude to bear the painful loss.
Both delegations offered prayers for the repose of the deceased and urged the bereaved family to take solace in her exemplary life, legacy of service to humanity and the positive values she imparted to those around her.
The condolence visits were disclosed in separate statements made available to journalists by the Senior Special Assistant to the NAWOJ National Chairperson on Special Duties and Projects, Comrade Sarah Ogodo.
