High Blood Pressure
Hypertension is also called “high blood pressure”. (HBP)
Hypertension is a condition in which the force of the blood against the artery walls is too high.
Usually hypertension is defined as blood pressure above 140/90, and is considered severe if the pressure is above 180/120.
It is common in Nigeria.

A chronic one can last for years or be lifelong.
It requires treatment by a medical professional as it requires a medical diagnosis, Lab tests.
High blood pressure often has no symptoms. Over time, if untreated, it can cause health conditions, such as heart disease and stroke.
The heart has to work harder to pump blood. Blood pressure is measured in millimeters of mercury (mm Hg). In general, hypertension is a blood pressure reading of 130/80 mm Hg or higher.
