Kaduna NUJ to FG, Overhaul Security Apparatus across the Nation for Peace to Reign
Zainab Tanimu- Kaduna, NIGERIA
The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kaduna State Council has called on Federal Government to overhaul the security apparatus across the nation as a way of finding lasting solution to the security problem across the country.
In a communique signed by the Kaduna Council Chairman, Comrade Adamu Yusuf, the union had expressed deep concern over the spade of unwarranted killings across the nation.
It condemned what it described as rampant killings in Benue State particularly, the incident at the Catholic Church in Ukpor Mbalom Community which it said is unwarranted and warned that such were clearly aimed at stoking up religious conflict in the Country.
The Kaduna Council of the Union commended the efforts of the Kaduna State Government in the provision of infrastructure in the state. It further noted the remarkable improvement in the Education Sector and Road Projects.
However, the Union enjoined the State government to ensure equitable
distribution of such Projects across the whole State so as to douse the feelings of marginalization in some quarters.
The Nigeria Union of Journalists also frowned at the indiscriminate manner
with which both Government and the private media organizations are laying off its members without due processes and warned that the Union will wade into such matter to protect its members.
Council strongly condemned the activities of some people who masquerade
themselves as veteran journalists on Facebook saying that they are not members of Nigeria Union of Journalist.
The meeting expressed its heartfelt condolences to its former Chairman, Mr. Andrew Fadason over the demise of his father, Mr. Aboki Fadason and pray God to grant him, family and relations the fortitude to bear the loss.
