Kaduna, Northwest Nigeria
Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has
condemned in totality the murder of an innocent pupil , Hanifa Abubakar who was murdered by the proprietor of her school.
The Chairman of the forum, Audu Ogbe speaking on behalf of the members
during the ACF NEC meeting held today, in Kaduna also expressed concern over
the present state of the nation. The harsh condition Nigerians are passing through.
The economic and social challenges he described as very worrisome.
“You keep hearing incredible things, unbelievable happening to us.
Senseless criminalities in the mist of high cost of living which is not good enough.
We are in a very delicate situation.
“We are having experiences that are so frightening and shocking that we just  wonder if a large number of people have not lost their humanity. The most recent is the one in Kano of a little girl who was killed by the proprietor of her own school with rat poison. Not too far back, some twenty or so were burnt in a bus in Zamfara.
“In the face of all these, is the dwindling economy, life is getting tougher by day, is difficult for most people to feed themselves, feed their families and have any reason to hope. This is our situation.
The kidnappings along the highways, the senseless criminalities and the rising cost of living are all that are the challenges facing us today.
“Worst of all, farmers cannot go to farm to harvest their crop and whereby they go they are made to pay tariff to harvest their crops. We are in a very delicate situation. He stressed.
“The economy challenges, the social challenges are very heavy and we must all keep praying at our individual levels because the only person who can solve our problem is the Almighty God himself.
The Chairman charged members
to face the challenges with courage.
To be up and doing in touching the lives of the people within their states.
“We need to know how our People are faring otherwise, we are not representing them. We must begin to put something in place. Something that could help the women, help schools help orphanages.  We must be very active now.”
He also cautioned members to distance themselves from any political discourse as ACF is not a political party.
The Forum in its commendation praised Governor El-Rufai for giving Kaduna town a face lift.
“The town looks really beautiful, highly improved upon and we thank him for changing Kaduna, from rather semi rural town to a very modern urban city. We are very proud of his achievements here.
Also commended was Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano state
for taking stringent measure over the murder case of a 5yrs school pupil murdered by the proprietor of the school.
“We commend the Governor of Kano state for the step he took to close down that school where the child was killed and all private schools in order to re- engineer them seriously and drill them well to make sure that their centers of improving our children are not commercial centers for kidnapping and destroying young people who will replace us. It is a horrible thing to do to a child who some days may be president of this country.
Expressing ACF’s concern  he said.
“We want to use this opportunity to appeal to proprietors of schools and government throughout the Federation.
Horrible things are happening in some schools even some government and military schools as such measures should be taken to bring such barbaric behaviours in our schools, like cultism  bullying and others to an end.
“Government must try very hard to bring order to educational system otherwise, we have nothing left. The reports are not good. We are very concerned and our country cannot return to the age of barbarism.
Below is the Communique of the NEC Meeting.
Excerpts:
After extensive deliberations on the murder of Hanifa Abubakar the five year old girl in Kano, the meeting resolved to commend the Governor of Kano state Dr Adulahi Danguje for his prompt action in arresting the situation.
Not only has government closed down the school, he has withdrawn the certification of the school. We agree with him because we cannot revert to barbarism without experiencing civilization. We encourage other state of governors to be as proactive in solving similar problems where they arise.
The Forum also commended the government of Kaduna and Malam el Rufai for the grand efforts made by his government to improve the infrastructural facilities in Kaduna. We have noted that Kaduna is wearing a new and beautiful face and we encourage other state governments to copy this example. We also noticed that the Kaduna state has attracted direct foreign investment in the state.
We also encourage other states to study and follow the progressive initiatives of Kaduna state government which has led to this progressive economic achievements by the state.
Still, we encourage the state government to embark on the study of the impact of the modernization drive so that those adversely effected do not come back to haunt the rest of the society.
While we are impressed with some by governments who have performed well we are also demoralized by the governors who have performed very poorly. Consequently, we intend to strengthen our partnership with state governments of the north. It is the only when our parternership is strengthened that we can make progress. There is also is need to renew our partnership members of the Nation Assembly from the North.
As the country moves towards 2023. We of the ACF need to remind our members and all that we are not a political party. We do not have a candidate and will not endorse one in the 2023 election North or South. When the political parties who have the exclusive permission of the Constitution to sponsor candidates choose a presidential candidate each, we shall engage the candidates and find out what program they have for the north.
We in the ACF is worried that all the commercial banks promoted by northerners lost their licenses during the banking consolidation policies of Obasanjo and Soludu. There is the need for the northern business class to put their heads together and establish banks.
We have always complained of late of the security situation in the north. We are still worried about this. The security conditions in the north are far from satisfactory. We urge the Federal and state government to embark on measures that will improve the situation.
We had proposed in the past that a meeting with Afenifer/ Ndigbo.
This meeting has not held because of logistic problems. These will soon be worked out and members informed accordingly.
We also lost some active members of the Forum.  General Inuwa Wushishi, Chairman Leadership Selection Committee of the ACF, Admin Secretary Mohammed Tanko Soba.
