 Chapel Election: Another Female Journalists Emelda Joy Odor emerges Chapel Chairman

New record has been set as female journalist, Emelda Joy Odor emerges Nagarta Radio’s Chapel Chairman.

This victory brings to two, female journalists occupying such leadership position.

The Chairman, Nigerian Union of Journalist, Kaduna State Council, Comrade Adamu Yusuf, has commended the spirit of competiveness shown by members during elections.

This commendation was given at the inaugural ceremony of the newly elected executives held at the Nagarta Radio and Current Affairs Department Katabu, Maraban Jos, Zaria Expressway, Kaduna on the 14th of September, 2018 where a Legal Practitioner, Barrister Joshua Babajide of Esq Chris Nnoli and Associates administered the oath of office..

Comrade Adamu while congratulating the incoming executives had charged them to be up and doing in the discharge of their duties.

He commended the outgoing executives for their efforts, supports and co-operation in ensuring the unity, success and development of Kaduna State Council of NUJ.

“I want to commend the support and co-operation of the members of Nagarta Radio especially the past executives in ensuring the unity, success and development of the NUJ Council”..

In his speech he reminded the newly elected chairman of the task ahead which he said are numerous.

.“I want to remind the new Chairman that there are lots of challenges which need to be focused on of which one of it is the welfare of members and should be a priority”. He stressed.

Still enumerating on some of the task ahead, he said,

“I want to announce to our members that we have what is called Executive Council meeting every month and sometimes, we do call for emergency meeting. So, the duty of the chairman of a chapel is sacrifices. You sacrifice your time, your scheduled and everything to represent the chapel in the state level positively.

The Council Chairman used the occasion to appeal to members on the need to ensure that they are captured in the ongoing biometric registration exercise which he said is meant to keep record of all journalists across the country. He informed that it would be published after everything is concluded.

According to him, other states have concluded theirs and Kaduna Council could not afford to be left out..

Adamu impressed with the emergence of another female in the chapel leadership position,

stressed the Council’s continuous entrenchment of gender policy while assuring them of his administration’s support to see that they excel in their duties.

“The Union has taken another dimension because the 1st elected Female Chairman in Kaduna State is from Kaduna State Media Corporation (KSMC) Chapel, Hajiya Ferida Abubakar and now we are having another female Chairman in the Lady of Joy Odor of Nagarta Chapel.

“I want to put it to you that our administration is gender sensitive and l assure you of the Council’s support to your success during your tenure”.

In her acceptance speech, the newly elected Chairman of Nagarta Radio, Miss Emelda Joy Odor promised to keep the chapel vibrant as well as do her possible best to defend its well -being and that of welfare of its members..

Miss Emelda called for unity, togetherness, support and co-operation of the members so that together they can achieve success and develop the chapel.

She promised to bring back all NUJ chapel members that have joined RATTAWO due to lack of sense of belonging.

Contributing, the General Manger of Nagarta Radio, Alhaji Abdulmalik Ande who was represented by the Manager, Programme, Mallam Yahaya Kassimu congratulated the new executives. He urged them to work in unionism, co-operating among themselves while stressing that it is only by so doing that the members will forester unity, love and bring development to not only the chapel but to the Station, the State Council as well as the National body of NUJ.

The newly elected members of Nagarta Radio are Emelda Joy Odor-Chairman, Zikefilu Abdullahi-Secretary, Usman Yau Yakasi-Financial Secretary, Ibrahim Alhassan-Treasurer and Isa Mohammed Lawal- Auditor among others.
