… empowers widows
Zainab Tanimu
Kaduna, Northwest Nigeria
Kaduna state government has commended NASFAT for its Humanitarian services.
The commendation was given during the inauguration of its new executive officers at NASFAT village where some widows were assisted with cash in continuation of its empowerment programme.
NASFAT’s Desk Officer, Alhaji, Salman Abiola Mogboyin from the national headquarters who represented President, NASFAT worldwide Alhaji Niyi Yusuf disclosed that NASFAT has through its empowerment project touched the lives of many Nigerians. Both members and non members of NASFAT across the nation.
He said NASFAT through its agency, ‘NASFAT Agency for Zakkat & Sadaqat’ (NAZAS) responsible for the collection and distribution of Zakkat chaired by Alhaji Hafiz Bakare has distributed over N600m to beneficiaries since it inception in 2014.
Alhaji Salman who was in Kaduna to inaugurate the newly elected executives of NASFAT Kaduna branch urged them to make judicious use of the token.
Earlier during the induction, he charged the officers to lead by example by exhibiting good conduct and always be guided by the fear of Allah in the discharge of their duties.
NASFAT code of conduct and constitution he emphasized must be followed to the latter at all times.
Inaugurated members are expected to run the affairs of the society for the period of 2yrs.
The Deputy Governor, Kaduna state Hajiya Adiza Sabuwa Balarabe speaking through her representative, SA on NGO Hon. Muktar Zubairu, commended NASFAT’s empowerment project and its contributions to humanity.
Hon. Muktar presenting cash to the beneficiaries promised that the state government will continue to partner with religious bodies to aid their charitable cause.
On the issue of leadership,  presented in a lecture titled, “Leadership in Islam”, by Group Capt. Tahir Ibn Isah, Chief Imam, Nigeria  Air Force Base Kaduna, he said there is need for religious leaders to intensify their sermon on not only good leadership but also good followership as a way of bringing positive change.
It is a win-win situation, he said. Both the leader and the led need to join hands together and with  the fear of Allah in them to make it work.
He called on Nigerians to always pray for their leaders for Allah ‘s guidance to make things better.
Earlier, Group Capt. Tahir Ibn Isah, Chief Imam, Nigeria  Air For Base Kaduna, in his had described what is being practised today as un-Islamic.
He urged our leaders to follow the right path, saying, what is being practised today
is not in conformity with Allah’s injunction as stated in the Quran. Thus, the need for a re-think to  achieve progress.
“The type of leadership we are operating today is un-lslamic.
The right leader is that ordained by Allah SWT. And the leadership of Allah is a triangular form with the peak facing the ground, where the leader is down and all the masses are lying on him.
The one we are operating today is a triangular system where the peak is up, the leader is sitting on everybody and if you complain they press you down so that you keep quiet. That is not Islamic leadership.”
The erudite scholar sighted some quotes from the Holy Quran to support his words.
“Prophet (saw) was talking to the people and one Arab man asked the prophet , when is the end of the time? The Prophet (saw) said in summary that, the end of the time, you will know it when there is lost of trust.
The man asked the Prophet (saw). Lost of trust, how do we know?
The Prophet responded. “When leadership will be given to those who do not deserve it.”
Giving  a scenario of the present day’s  leadership tussle, he cautioned, saying, what is being practised today is totally opposite the teachings of  Islam.
Lamenting,  he said those that don’t deserve to be leaders are the ones that are today struggling for leadership. That the Quran has stated that the time will come, “that you are going  to look for leadership and that the end will be destructive, and will resort to had l know”. This is where we are today,”
He urged our leaders to repent before their creator, “Allah ” in order that we can be guided and move on the right path.
Stressing,  not until we abide by the rules and regulations of Allah, tow the right path by exhibiting good leadership, putting the right people to mane the affairs of this nation can we get it right and have peace.
Speaking earlier, the Zonal Chairman, Alhaji Shaheed Popoola Gambari in his speech intimated the gathering on some of the activities of the zone.
He charged the new executives to live up to expectation.
Fielding questions from newsmen shortly after the inauguration, the Zonal Missioner, NASFAT Kaduna, Imam Ma’rooph Muhammed Raji called on Nigerians to be patient with the president Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
He called on government at all levels to  “monitor the palliatives that are to be distributed for the needy to avoid a situation  whereby it wiy be hoarde. Culprits he said should be punished and brought to book.
The federal government  should do all necessary to ensure those deserving the palliatives get it.”
The new branch Chairman, Alhaji AbdulAkeem Adeniji, soon after delivering the valedictory speech of his predecessor’s, the outgone NASFAT Kaduna branch Chairman, Alhaji AbdulGaniyu Ajao,  had in his acceptance speech promised to together with his team do all possible best to move NASFAT Kaduna branch to greater heights.
“We have an agenda. The agenda is called ‘HELD’. ‘H’ stands for health, ‘E’ stands for education, ‘L’  stands for livelihood and ‘D’ stands for dawa’ah.
We are going to improve on these activities. There are areas that we have not touched, so will want to.improve on such.
“Also, we want to move from the era of begging people to execute our programmes. We are working on income generating investments. Projects and programmes that will help in generating funds to execute our projects and activities.”
Adeniji called on the government to assist petty traders with loan of at least 50,000 to support their businesses to enable them make ends meet.
