NASFAT Salutes Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ẹkun, New CJN

Nasrul-Lahi-L-Fatih Society (NASFAT) congratulates Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ẹkun on her appointment as the new Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN).

The President NASFAT Worldwide, Alhaji Ayodeji AbdulWahid AbdulRauf congratulating her on behalf of NASFAT stakeholders and members globally in a statement had described her appointment as well-deserved.

Her integrity, judicial experience, and legal acumen put to bear will add credence to the judicial system. The statement added.

“In every respect, she has earned this seat. Her academic credentials, her judicial experience, and her legal acumen prove that she is eminently qualified for this position.

“On behalf of NASFAT stakeholders and members globally, I congratulate a woman of substance, high integrity,  and  her fellow women of judiciary, Justice Kudirat  Kekere-Ekun  on her appointment as the new  chief justice of Nigeria, the climax of her career as a justice.
Abdulrauf while commending President Tinubu for the recognition and his believe in gender equity also acknowledged the role played by the Senate in finding Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun suitable for the position. He called on Nigerians to give their support to the new CJN in her bid to surmounting the task ahead and give the judiciary a befitting outlook.

“We should certainly celebrate and support Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun for this historic selection. It is always difficult to be a female leader in anything; serving as a woman, a historically epoch moment in the history of Nigeria.

The statement further commends her capabilities.

“Despite all challenges, I have the utmost confidence that Justice Kekere-Ekun is up to the task and that the country will be ready to embrace her.

“Several years ago, I had the privilege of meeting Justice Kudirat Kekere- Ekun when I was invited for a talk on planning for retirement as a stockbroker, to address the magistrates in Lagos central.

“During our brief interaction, I was inspired by her intellect and her warmth – important characteristics that I know she will bring with her to the highest court in the land and consequently at the apex rule of the law.

“I would like to wish her  congratulations on becoming another female judge to attain this position in Nigeria.

“In addition to wishing her congratulations, we must also express our expectations for Excellence in Truth and Service, Barakah Allahu fiih Amin.

Justice Kekere-Ẹkun will be taking over from Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, who officially retired on Thursday.

The swearing-in ceremony will take place at the State House Council Chambers in Abuja on August 23, 2024
