The executive members of  Farmers’ Alliance And Marketing Cooperative Society Ltd. (FAMCO) has again met in Kaduna.

The Chairman, Bar. Sam Danjuma Abashiya in his opening remark explained that the meeting was to further deliberate on wayforward as to how to contribute towards the betterment of the farmers, communities and the agricultural sector at large.

Addressing the members, he informed that Mr. President is concerned about the agric. sector therefore, the need to key into the project as a way of contributing their quota in moving the sector forward because the government cannot do it alone.

He stressed on transparency, patience, dedication and togetherness as that will help in the realization of the association ‘s vision.

“I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the entire executive committee for their tireless efforts in steering our cooperative to its current position.
“Your dedication, vision, and perseverance have laid a solid foundation for us to build upon.

This cooperative cuts across states and  tribes. He said.

Encouraging members:

“It is a team work, everyone has his or her experiences and area of specialization which we need to harness together and move this cooperative society forward.

 

“As we embark on this new journey, we face both opportunities and challenges. The agricultural sector is rapidly evolving, with technological advancements, climate change, and shifting market trends presenting both threats and prospects.
“However, I firmly believe that together, we can navigate these complexities and emerge stronger, more resilient, and more prosperous.
Pledging his commitment,
“I pledge to work tirelessly to promote and uphold our values in all our endeavours for our growth and prosperity as a cooperative. .

“This cooperative will be a beacon of hope and a symbol of what can be achieved through collective effort. As the Chairperson, I promise to build on the legacy of fostering a culture of inclusivity, transparency, and accountability.
The chairman in his speech itemized some areas of concerns which the house deliberated on, such as the enhancement of our agricultural productivity and efficiency through training, technology adoption, and best practices.
The expansion of market access and outreach, both domestically and internationally.
The strengthening of organizational capacity, governance, and financial management.
The need to promoting sustainable agriculture practices, environmental conservation, and climate resilience was also stressed.
The issue of partnering with government
institutions and international agencies like Food and Agricultural organisation FAO, GIZ of Germany, Nigerian.
Agricultural business group NABG, and big corporation seeking to invest in the business of agriculture was another area of focus.
Bar. Sam assured the house of his determination to carry everyone along in the bid to actualizing the society’s dream.
“These goals are ambitious, but I have every confidence that together, we can achieve them. I call upon each and every one of you to join me on this journey, sharing your expertise, experience, and passion to build a brighter future for our cooperative and our communities.”
The floor was opened for individuals to make contributions.

After deliberating on all the suggestions made, measures were taken as to how best to impact positivity on the farmers and the communities at large.

The meeting came to a close with a renewed vigor to do more.
