Family Announces the Demise of Former Nigeria President, Muhammadu Buhari

The death has been announced of the former President, Muhammadu Buhari.

This was announced in an official statement released by family spokesperson, Mallam Garba Shehu.

According to the statement, late Buhari died in London at about 4.30 pm, on Sunday, July 13, following a prolonged illness.

It reads:

“INNA LILLAHI WA INNA ILAIHIR RAJI’UN.
The family of the former president has announced the passing on of the former president, Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, this afternoon in a clinic in London.
May Allah accept him in Aljannatul Firdaus, Amin.”

 

President Buhari was Nigeria’s military head of state between 1983 and 1985.
He served as civilian president from 2015 to 2023 and was one man known for  anti- corruption crusade.
Details regarding the burial arrangements to be announced.
