KWARA AGILE Project: Alim & Associates Ltd. Trains Facilitators for SBMCs Training

The Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE), is a  project that focuses on enhancing secondary education opportunities for adolescent girls aged 10 to 20 within specified communities.

It is a federal government project under the auspice of the federal ministry of education through the coordination of the National and various States Project Implementation Units with support from the World Bank.

Research has shown that adolescent girls in Nigeria often face barriers in their educational pursuit such as sociocultural pressures, financial constraints, and inadequate infrastructure that prevents them from accessing and completing their secondary education.

The AGILE Project seeks to address these challenges in order to make secondary education more conducive and attractive to the adolescent girl child, the parents and the communities, at large.

The project aims to ensuring that girls are enrolled, retained, and complete their secondary education.

Alim & Associates Ltd. is the Consultant engaged for the Kwara AGILE under Component 1.2 to carryout the Consultancy Services with respect to the Training of the School Based Management Committee (SBMC) members as well as Supervise  the renovation of 898 schools across the state.

The training which brought together facilitators from across the 3 senatorial zones of the state is meant to equip them with the required skills and knowledge needed to train the SBMC members on their roles and responsibilities and development of SIP for their respective schools. The SBMCs are key to ensuring proper implementation of the AGILE projects.

Engr. Muhyideen Alimi Yusuf; the Managing Partner of Alim and Associates Ltd. speaking at the commencement of the training in llorin, urged participants to take advantage of yet another opportunity provided to enrich their knowledge, network among themselves and deliver the training to the SBMCs in line with the guidelines.

The E&S Officer, Mr Ayokanmi Owolabi emphasized the need for the trainers to emphasize the adherence to occupational and environmental safety guidelines including prevention of Gender Based Violence.

The 1.2 Component Lead, QS Amina Shehu implored the facilitators to engage the SBMCs in more practical training on the School Improvement Plan SIP and ensure that the training modules are adequately covered.

The Deputy Project Coordinator, Mr. Lawal Hamza implored the facilitators to engaged appropriately with the SBMCs and emphasize the importance of understanding their roles and responsibilities as the major stakeholders in their respective schools.

The Project Coordinator Mr Abdulazeez Adesina Salami expressed his satisfaction and appreciation to the organizer of the training ; the consultant Alim and Associates and the resource person, Dr Adeyemi Isiah Adeyemo for their commitment and dedication.

He urged the facilitators to use both indigenous and English language effectively to communicate with the SBMCs. He further emphasized the need to ensure that the goal of the program is achieved in view of the expectations of the state government and other stakeholders.

Similar training of the facilitators were held in Alim and Associates Kaduna office and in Ilorin while this is the last leg of the training of the facilitators.

The training of the SBMCs is expected to commence on the 11th of August 2025 in bathes of two through to the 15th of August 2025.

Dr. Adeyemi  Adeyemo, the lead resources person pointed out that the training is majorly for the facilitators that will train the SBMCs in various clusters to refresh their memories and review all the relevant elements of the training module.
