Federal Government And Labour To Meet Today On Consequential Salary Adjustment

The Federal Government and the leadership of the organized labour are to meet by 2pm today to iron out the lingering issue of consequential salary adjustment.
Addressing newsmen at the end of the meeting yesterday, the Minister of Labour &  Employment, Dr Chris Ngige said the discussion was honest with facts laid bared on the table to enable the meeting arrived at an amicable resolution of the salary adjustment for different grade levels of workers.
The Deputy NLC President, Com. Amechi Asugwuni who spoke on behalf of the workers explained that though government has shifted grounds but there were grey areas still needed to be ironed out, hence the need for the adjourment.
The Acting Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Dr Folasade Yemi-Esan noted the commitment of the labour leaders to reach agreement on the issue of salary adjustment & expressed confidence that both govt & the labour would be on the same page when the meeting reconvenes  today.
Investigations by Radio Nigeria revealed that the Federal Government has offered to pay 17% increment for workers on grade level 7 to 14 while those on grade level 15 to 17 would receive 12% increment.
Meanwhile, the  organised labour has also shifted its position from 29% to 25% for workers on GL 7 to 14 and 20% for workers on grade level 15 to 17.
