NUJ Kaduna State Council mourns Veteran Journalist, Chief Dominic Uzu

KADUNA Northwest Nigeria:
The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kaduna State Council following the tragic death of its veteran journalist, former Council Secretary and Treasurer, Chief Dominic Uzu yesterday, Tuesday, February 4, 2020 along Kaduna-Zaria Highway has declared a seven-day period of mourning with effect from today, Wednesday, 5th February 2020. 
This was contained in a statement signed and made available by the Council’s Assistant Secretary, Shindong Bala.
The council expressed that it was devastated at the news which it described as shocking.
“With heavy heart, the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) , Kaduna State Council announced the sudden death of one of our Outstanding members, Chief Dominic Eze Uzu.
“He died today, Tuesday February 4th, 2020 following a ghastly motor accident
along Kaduna – Zaria Road.
“To this end, the NUJ State Council has declared 7 days of mourning from tomorrow Wednesday 5th February, 2020,” it stated.
The council also stated that the late Chief Dominic Eze Uzu was a former staff of New Nigeria Newspapers where he was Sports Editor of New NIGERIAN on Sunday, and held several positions in NUJ up to the positions of Treasurer and State Secretary as well as Executive Member of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria.
“Chief Dominic Uzu was also the National Coordinator and One of the Founders of Arewa online Publishers Association, a position he held until his death. He was the CEO/Publisher of City Source Online newspaper.
“He died leaving behind a wife four children and several relatives.
“A condolence register has been opened at the NUJ Secretariat,” The statement added.
