Transformation through Self-Discovery is Key to our Development –DG Business School

Zainab Tanimu –Kaduna, NIGERIA

Nigeria is a nation blessed with abundant resources of which if well tapped would be among the fastest growing nations. Transformation through self-discovery is what is missing and this needs to be taken seriously for it to come out of its present predicaments.

Lamenting over Nigerian present predicament he said, over 29million youth have graduated and still remain problems to their parents.

Rather than blame government for not doing enough, it is high time he said that we started looking inward to generate wealth through skills acquisition program. The era of looking for white collar job is gone.

“Combine western education with vocational education. That was how China got it right”. He sounded.

Musa said, the truth of the matter is that Nigerians are suffering from intelligent trap and the earlier this is realized, the better for everyone.

He asked. “What is that product that we can proudly call our own in the global arena of today that other countries are buying from us?

Nigeria is not producing but a consuming nation and that it was high time to look inward.

“I am not talking of natural endowment like crude oil or unprocessed agricultural products. Creative products like furniture items, foot wears, garments or motor vehicles to mention but a few that are created or manufactured in Nigeria.

The problem we have today is very simple if we think deeper”.

As to how far the wealth creation campaign had reached, he said,

“Our mission is to take Nigeria out of its current situation through wealth creation. We depend too much on paper qualification. Ours is to introduce the program through advocacy, capacity training. This group is already in partnership with Kaduna state government.

“We would continue to move across the state to get wealth creation ambassadors.

“ As the group moves around getting nominations, and training Wealth Creation Vanguards of Nigeria, they would be formed into a group. Some would be sent for furniture making, wielding agriculture and other areas of interest.

The final unveiling would be done with the state governor,  Malam Nasir El-Rufai”.

The DG called on every Nigerian to see wealth creation as key to development while urging institutions, politicians, religious leaders, civil society and well to do Nigerians to take the issue of wealth creation seriously as government cannot do it alone. The prevailing situation he sees as a pointer to the fact that all government efforts and policies directed towards alleviating poverty had not been able to take the country out of its economic woes.

“Entrepreneurship is the key to development and is the reason why China is ahead of the rest of the world”.

The Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Kaduna Council, Comrade Adamu Yusuf, had in his remark assured the group the Council’s readiness to partner with it saying, the council would do it best in every way possible to assist them in making their dream a reality.

He equally lamented on Nigeria’s situation saying, report has shown that “Nigeria is at the highest level of countries whose products are on rejection list.

A workshop attended in Lagos revealed that 300 Nigeria’s products were rejected”.

He commended the group’s vision and the stride towards wealth creation. Nigeria he said needs to do a lot in the area of skills acquisition and that China is where it is today because of its focus on wealth creation.

The visit came to an end with the decoration of the NUJ Chairman, ‘Wealth Creation Ambassador’ in Kaduna State.
