Kaduna State Advances Gender Equality with World Bank Partnership
A strategic meeting took place between the Honorable Commissioner of the Ministry of Human Services and Social Development and the World Bank consultant, Sebarri Diete-Spiff to discuss the new Gender project. The project aims to improve women’s economic empowerment opportunities, gender equality, women’s safety, and protection.
The meeting was a follow-up to the 2020 index reporting, which tracked the implementation of gender-related laws and policies in Kaduna State. The report highlighted gaps based on international best practices frameworks and presented two new components. Kaduna State has made significant progress in women’s economic empowerment and was selected as a pilot state for the World Bank project.
The Honourable Commissioner applauded the choice of Kaduna State and appreciated the visit, noting the Government’s laudable achievements, including laws on child welfare and protection, women’s economic empowerment, and a grand support of 5 billion in the 2025 budget.
