2023 Election: Senator Uba Sani Declares Intention For Kaduna State Governorship Race

Senator representing Kaduna North Central at the National Assembly, Senator Uba Sani, today has declared interest for the 2023 Guber Election.

The lawmaker made the declaration at the state All Progressive Congress (APC) Secretariat on Tuesday.

According to him, he was at the party secretariat to inform them of his intention while seeking for their cooperation and support.

His idea to declare intention to contest for the governorship seat in 2023 he said was borne out of their party’s mandate of delivering good governance to the people at various levels.

“I need your support. I came to inform you of my intention to contest for the governorship seat under the APC.” He said.

The senator also commended Governor Nasir El-Rufai for moving the state forward.

“Kaduna State has been taken to a new level under Mallam Nasir El Rufai, the state has been totally reworked on in all the sectors, It is truly a new dawn in Kaduna State,” he said.

“The challenge before us is how to sustain a legacy of outstanding public service, the impact of the reversal of the gains in the post 2023 era will be a huge tragedy.

“Our people can’t settle for anything less, this is the reason that I am humbly stepping forward to carry the banner of continuity.

Explaining further, he said he has worked closely with governor El- Rufai as such understands his vision and mission better than anyone. Promising to continue with the good work he has started.

“I have worked very closely with El-rufai for over 20 years,

spanning his days at the Bureau of Public Enterprise (BPE), the period he served as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory and of course when President Olusegun Obasanjo graciously appointed me his Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs, I benefitted immensely from wise counsels from Mallam El Rufa’i, who was at the time a key and highly respected member of the Obasanjo administration.

“I understand El-Rufai’s vision and mission; l stand in good position to sustain his vision and mission, l am conversant with the developmental challenges in the state, I understand it’s complexities and possibilities.”

It will be recalled that Governor El- Rufai  when asked on Channels Television’s Politics Today,  to unveil his anointed candidate for the Kaduna government house come 2023, El-Rufai had said his preference is in his core team.

“My preference is in our core team; that is the first 11. I said core team because these are the guys that worked with me since 2014 to organise our party, our campaign and we won and got elected,” El-Rufai said.

Sani is in the “first 11”, having served as Political Adviser to El-rufai from 2015 to 2019, before he resigned to contest the senate seat.
