2023 Election: Stop Politics of Rice and Sugar – Shehu Sani Cautions Nigerians

Former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani has called on Nigerians to shine their eyes at the forth coming general elections by voting the right leaders.
According to him, leaders that possess the necessary leadership qualities that will usher in positive change.
He made this call during  the workers days celebration held at Ahmadu Bello Stadium Kaduna.
“Nigeria needs a leader. A leader that will unite the nation. A leader that will deliver our people out of terrorists and bandits. A leader that will end the malice that we face as a people.
There is need for new hands to energize the political scene. He stated.
“We cannot change this country as long as we keep returning these people. If you are desirous to change this country, you have the power to do so.
He charged the union to remain resolute in what they believe in.
The Senator in his call warned Nigerians against what he described as politics of ‘rice and sugar’.
“I warn you against the politics of rice and sugar. I warn you against politics of false promises.
If your conscience is driven by your greed and your financial needs, we cannot change this country as long as we continue to recall those who destroy it.
Nigeria Labour Congress has lived up to expectations.
“We must do justice because  injustice breeds terrorism. Justice, fairness and equity is the answer. He said.
“If there is any Nigerian dream, it has been killed by Nigerian political class. We have become a bad example of a failing state.” He said.
Lamenting over the state of insecurity, he said it is disheartening to see Banditry, and kidnapping striving despite the huge amount of money voted for the sector.
Terrorists in some parts of northern parts of the states having states within states. He added.
In his May day speech, the Chairman  Nigeria Labour Congress NLC Kaduna,
Comrade Ayuba Magaji Suleiman had expressed the need for full participation of workers in both partisan and non partisan politics.
0nly politicians that have the welfare of workers at heart he said should be voted for.
The relationship between the Kaduna state government and labour despite it efforts to cement it he explained had not been cordial. He urged the Kaduna State government to embrace the tripartite and social dialogue on matters concerning  workers right and freedom rather than the outdated style of hostility.
Comrade  Suleiman commended the Kaduna state government’s infrastructural development stride  especially that of Kaduna, Kafanchan and Zaria but that more needed to be done in the areas of good governance and welfare of the workers.
Citizens participation in governance needs to be taken seriously as that will give room for fairness and justice.
The government should also intensify efforts in finding solutions to the insecurity bedeviling the state. He added.
