Nastrul Lahil-L-Fatih Society NASFAT has called on the need for the youth to remain focused by shunning all vices detrimental to the development and peaceful co-existence of the nation.
Zonal Youth Advisory Council Chairman, NASFAT Kaduna, a one time Amir for the northern states, Alhaji lsmail Kolawole made this call during the inaugural ceremony of Executive members of NASFAT Youth Doka Group held in Kaduna.
Speaking, he said the youth is an integral part of a society as such needs to be well nurtured for a better tomorrow.
He lamented the present happenings in the society whereby youths are caught perpetrating one form of vices or the other.
This he said is an indication of failure on the part of parents, religious and community leaders.
Alhaji lsmail urged parents and all stakeholders to live up to their responsibilities.
“As a parent, community, religious bodies, we have all failed. Our youth today have something else as priority instead of sincerity and upholding to the teachings of our religions.
“Our youth today involve themselves in drugs, alcoholism, Niger bet etc. They have less focus, the only thing on their minds that makes them human in the society now is to have money. That is why many of them are going extra mile to kill for ritual. Some engage in robbery, some of them informants for kidnappers.
“We need to stand up as a society, we have to stand up as religious bodies to make sure that our youth are well enlightened to know the value of the people. Not only money, money, money.”
The society he added, gives too much recognition to money which is the reason why these youth go extra mile to look for money irrespective of implications involved.
“As society, we give too much recognition to money. We have to actually come back and teach our youth the value of humanity, sincerity of purpose in life. They should know that everything has to be happening gradually.”
Addressing the youths,
“As a Muslim youth, you need to stand up and follow what lslam says.
Follow the injunctions in the Quran and Hadith and make use of all you are thought in NASFAT. You need to follow what NASFAT wants.
“In NASFAT, we want to have an enlightened Muslim youth, Muslim Ummah that is nurtured by true understanding of Islam. When you have this understanding, you will not involve yourself in all these rituals.
Some youths including our youth are caught with human head. That is not Islam. That is why we should teach them the true understanding of the religion Islam. He stressed.
Zonal Youth Coordinator Kaduna, Alhaji Sufiyan Musediq Soneye also recognizing the importance of the youth in the society described the occasion as another mile stone in the history of Kaduna Zone youth wing.
The inauguration of Doka youth wing he said will help in gearing the activities of members. By so doing, help to move the group forward.
“The youth are the heart of every organization. Youth are the leaders of today aside the popular saying of being the leaders of tomorrow.
There is no how a society will be operating without having a youth that can take up the mantle of leadership in the nearest future.
The activities of NASFAT Youth he said revolves round the national president’s agenda of ‘HELD’. (That is, H = health, E=Education, L= Livelihood and D = Dawah.)
“We engage in lots of activities. Islam has been portrayed in a bad light and it is our duty to correct these misconceptions.
Alhamdullilah, so far so good NASFAT has been ranked one of the best Islamic organization in the world.
“I am proud to say that NASFAT is a society that is open to all irrespective of tribal affiliation.
We do not discriminate. We have avenue where we interact with non Muslims under the platform of interfaith. Sometime ago, we had a medical outreach which was opened to all, irrespective of tribe or faith. NASFAT does not segregate.”
Speaking, NASFAT Kaduna Branch Youth Ameer, Brother Lukman Raji in his words of advised urged the newly inaugurated executives to put mechanisms in place that will help move the wing forward by looking both inward and outward.
“What l mean by looking inward and outward is that there is need to look at the laid down rules and regulations guiding youth programme. If they can look into it, it will guide them in their daily activities.
We want them to contribute to the development of the group.
Very soon, we want to see the group becoming a branch. The executives of the main branch are on ground to oversee their affairs. He stated.
According to NASFAT Doka Group’s Secretary, Brother Muideen Badmus who is also a youth and presently steers the activities of the wing, the sky is their limit as they are out to make not only the group but NASFAT Kaduna proud.
“My dream is to see us waxing stronger and contributing positively to the development of Islam and the nation at large.
In any group, society or community, one cannot underestimate the role of the youth in development. Without the youth, the tomorrow or future of that society is not guaranteed because youths are the ones to take over from the elders. Why we are inaugurating the youth wing today is for them to learn from the elders so as to be able to successfully take over from them when they are retired.”
Kaduna Branch Youth Ameerah, Sister
Hafsat Tiamiyu excited with the exercise has this to say.
“Alhamdullilah, having NASFAT Doka Group here has solved a lot of problems. Members within the town because of its proximity are able to attend Sunday asalat.
I am excited for the successful inauguration and hope that our programs from the main branch will extend to doka group Insha Allah.
She noted that aside the general youth Programme, they have ‘Sisters Forum,’ whereby the sisters meet and rub minds on issues related to their problems.
“Our Sisters Forum platform provides the sisters the opportunity to meet and share their problems one on one be it personal or religious problem.
This has assisted in many ways because some sisters who are not able to come out publicly and say out their problems can have a voice within ourselves whereby they can share their problems.
Some of these problems we seek guidance from our religious leaders and other experts.
Alhamdullilah we have been doing well and assisting one another.
Not only that,
“Islam preaches peaceful co-existence. As Muslims, we have been trying as much as possible to do that by representing Islam well. Our relationship with the non Muslims l must say have been very cordial. I have a lot of female Christians that are my friends and we get on well. She stressed.
