Time Has Come For Women To Take Leadership Space  – Hon Hauwa

Zainab Tanimu

Kaduna, Northwest Nigeria

Hon. Hauwa Abdullahi Gambo, a gender advocate whose passion is to see women inclusiveness in all facet of endeavor is gunning for House of Rep. under the umbrella of the African Democratic Congress. (ADC).
The fire brand would-be legislator while addressing journalists on Wednesday, during a media parley organized by the Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ Council Kaduna, for all candidates of various political parties across the state, had called on women to give all the needed support to their fellow women in order that they can proof their worth. Women she said are endowed with  lots of capabilities that can help bring about change.
“Women have been neglected for decades and is now time for them to take leadership space.
“Women should ensure that they vote for women for better representation and for them to show their capabilities. Moreso, a woman knows better what a fellow woman goes through.
“Voting for women means voting for progress because no nation can progress without the women.
 Still canvassing for support,
“Today, we are here, and we have come to offer ourselves for service, and we have asked you to trust us with your votes and we assure you that if you do, your vote will matter, your vote will count and you shall see the dividend of your votes.
“I decided to go into the political space to vie for political office to represent my people.
Chukun/Kajuru federal Constituency is one of the most insecured, unstable impoverished constituency in Kaduna state. And that was what gave me the motivation to rise up and say, we need to get involved. Our people need us and we have the capacity to bring change. As a woman, l have lived with exclusion for a long time. Women have been excluded from leadership status in the history of our great nation.
Giving total inclusiveness to a crucial segment of the society she said will go a long way in redirecting the state of the nation because as home makers, women are naturally endowed with the ability to manage not only issues but crisis.
“I know how valuable the women are in building a society. I am strong believer that strong women build strong society. If you do not have strong women, your society cannot stand and that is what we are witnessing today. Unstable society, instability and conflict everywhere. One of the significant sectors of nation building that would have served as the strong pillar of the society has been neglected for decades, and that is, the women folks.  If we bring the women folks back onto the table of leadership, we will begin to heal our society, we will begin to mend the broken pieces, and we will begin to walk on the part of recovery and development.
“As women, we don’t joke with our homes, and Nigeria is our home. Kaduna is our home, Kajuru is my home, so l am not joking with it.
The time has come for women to take up their political space that have remained vacant for decades. The time has come for us to give our contributions and values and we know we have a lot to give.
“If you cannot run your home without a woman what makes you think you can successful run the nation without her? We urge you to trust us with your vote and l will assure you that if you give us your votes, your  votes will matter, your votes will count.
Unveiling part of her manufestos,
“I come with the mandate of rehabilitating, supporting and building the women of my constituency because they have suffered  From those whose children have been killed,  to those whose children have been kidnapped, to those who are currently, outside their homes and living some where as IDPs, we have a lot of them.
” We are not going to throw them away, we’re going to embrace them, we’re going to comfort them, we are going to offer them support, rehabilitate them  and reintegrate them back into the society, because when the woman is healed, our societies will heal.“
Speaking on empowering the women with a view to bringing about sanity in the society, she emphasized.
“No woman who is empowered will leave their children on the street. We strongly take the issue of their empowerment seriously and that is why it is top on our agenda.
On youth unemployment,
If by the grace of God she comes on board 2023 election, opportunities will be fully tapped because according to her, lots of opportunities both at home and outside are laying fallow waiting to be tapped.
“We are going to mop up the number of unemployed youth.
We have so many young people that we can count who are jobless, and as a result of that easily tempted into vices. We are going to mop up the number of our unemployed youth. Expose them to both local opportunities. Build their capacities.” Not only that, they will be  reminded of their responsibilities of leadership in their respective homes and constituencies. She added.
Not only that she will do all within her power to push bills that will add values to  the lives of people she is representing.
Hauwa has lamented the rate of out of school children in the north with particular reference to the girl child. She promised to do everything possible to change the narrative through her constituency project.
While acknowleding the importance of security, she called on everyone’s support  in complimenting the efforts of the security agencies. Security is everyone ‘s business and when there is peace farmers will be able to go to their farms which inturn will boost agriculture. She stressed.
Kajuru is said to be one of the producers of rice in the state. This will be given more attention during her tenure.
Hon. Hauwa in her pursuit for good governance is leaving no stone unturned in the actualization of her dream.
She promised a change within four years in office because the problem is that of leadership which is going to be tackled headlong.
Hauwa an experienced journalist turned politician also promised her colleagues in the pen profession a push for the actualization of a bill for a better condition of service.
