“This is a medical outreach that we carry out periodically as part of our cooperate social responsibility for our staff and our neighbouring community.

We commence this activity to give back to the community starting from our staff so that they can live a healthy life, be motivated and be more productive. It is  also to serve our immediate community, to contribute to the health care delivery system in the country.

As to how he feels providing such services, he has this to say.

“I feel so happy, elated. Each time we do something like this, l feel fulfilled because l am able to impact positively on other people’s life to make them smile.

He called on other people particularly the well-to-do in the society to assist those in need in the society.

“Is for us to be our neighbors keepers to help out in the time of needs. Many people are out there, they don’t have anything but could not ask. We don’t need to wait for them to ask us to help. The health problems in the community, in the society are so huge, so we need to address it.

I implore wealthy individuals to try to reach out to the less privileged within and outside their localities.

Suffice to say that such an effort could not have been single handedly pursued without the support of his wife, Mrs Alimi Yusuf.

Just as the saying goes, behind any successful man is an understanding wife.

She thanked everyone who contributed in making the exercise a success while pledging her continuous support to the husband saying, it is has always been his passion to help those in need.

Speaking, Dr Hameen Suleiman Kayode, Consultant, Oculoplastic surgeon from the national eyes center Kaduna, fellow, West African College of Surgeon, commended the efforts of Engr. Alimi Yusuf for bringing health services closer to the people. It is a thing worthy of emulation by others. He stated.

He spoke on the importance of exercise to the body, Dr. Kayode who was there with his team advised that  people should create time for exercise in order to keep healthy and sound.
“Exercise is so important in the sense that it reduces pain, it burns  calories and excess fats. You know, when one is too fat, you’re liable to die young.
Alim & Associates wants us to live long so that we can reap the fruit of our labour. Exercise as it affects hypertension and diabetes, when you exercise your body,  you sleep well, you relate well, you’re happy and it makes life more meaningful to you.”
Aside the exercise was the health talk, the doctor explained.
“This health talk, diagnosis and treatment, we do that by-annually. The program, live and lets live is part of community service that Alim & Associates is doing to put smiles on people’s faces vis-vis diagnosis of  simple, preventable diseases.
Still on welfare of workers,

“Money is not everything. Workers and their families need to be abreast with life. They need to be healthy. When you are not healthy, how do you enjoy the money. How do you become more productive? How will you be efficient  and effective? So, Alimi & Associate has deemed it fit to bring services to the people.
“We have had health talk regarding glacoma, as an eye disease that can be congeniter and acquired which amounts to about 45% of blindness. Then we have talked about cateract that causes 50% of avoidable blindness. We talked about menopause as it affects women so that men and women will live with more happiness.
Workers elated with the services extended to them were full of appreciation as they prayed for the company’s growth. They were given free drugs while others were booked for glasses for free.
In a brief interview with Newsreservoir, Dr. spoke on the eye and what to look out for.
Excerpts:
Your eyes are organs that allow you to see. Many parts of your eye work together to bring objects into focus and send visual information to your brain. Several conditions and injures can cause changes in eyesight. Some conditions can lead to permanent vision loss.
How does one know that he  or she has glacoma?
Glacoma can be open angle and close angle. Glacoma is the tip of the eye. How do one know that he/she has glacoma? You may not know. By the time you’re 40yrs old, you need to start going for eye check ups

He advised against people visiting quack as such could lead to damage of the eyes.
“Don’t visit quack, visit the national eye center in Kaduna or go to private hospitals and see consultants. They have instruments they will use to look into your eyes, they have instrument they will use to check it.
The symptoms you may see, your vision may not be seeing well for distance and near. In the night you may not be seeing well. You will be bumping into objects. If you’re a driver, you will find out that you will be heating side vehicles. When you want to enter a room, you will be heating the room, bumping into things. That means glacoma is coming gradually.
For cateract, your vision will be hazy, and cloudy. You will be changing your classes frequently. Same thing for glacoma, you will be changing glasses and you will be saying the glasses is not good. It is you.
Why do we see children using glasses at an early age?
” That is a refractive error. Refractive error comes to everybody. Children can be myopic. They can be hyper- mayo pia  Myopic, they see better things that are closer to them. They don’t see far things. Somebody who is hyperopic will see things that are far very well but the reading and other close tasks are problematic.
Is it advisable for children to use glasses at early stage?
Children should start using glasses as soon as possible if they have refractive error otherwise their eyes will deviate what is called squint and is not good and it can start having Nystagmus. That is, you may feel like your eyes have a mind of their own. They move up and down, side to side, or in a circle. This is called nystagmus or “dancing eyes.” It’s a condition where you can’t control your eye movements.
The moment they begins to have nystagmus, it will be difficult to correct in totality.”
As to what causes Nystagmus?
It may be a sign of another eye problem or medical condition. You may be born with it, or you might develop it later in life. Nystagmus is caused by many different things, including:
Being passed down from your parents
Other eye issues, like cataracts or strabismus
