FOMWAN to Muslim women: Imbibe the Culture of Wearing Hijab
Zainab Tanimu
Kaduna, Northwest Nigeria
The Federation of Muslim Association of Nigeria, FOMWAN Kaduna chapter
has called on Muslim women to develop the culture of wearing hijab as such practice is best in the sight of Allah.
Amirah FOMWAN, Pharm. Aisha Isiyaku
made this call at the World hijab celebration held in Kaduna.
Not only that, parents should make a responsibility to see that their children are properly dressed. Decent dressing not only protect the child from harm, but also portrays the family background of such a child.
The children should be well guided. She stressed.
“There are many things we are battling with now as Muslims.
When you see your children in the university, you will be so shocked at their behavior and their dressings. Totally different from what they have been taught at home. I always tell my children that whatever you are doing remember that if l am not there to look after you, He is watching you.
She emphasized on making children realise that it is for their own benefit as everyone will account for their deeds on the day of judgement.
She pleaded to the youth to always look good in hijab instead of borrowed culture of wearing all manners of dress that portrays indecency. Such dressings are unlslamic. She said.
“You are not doing it for your parents. You are doing it for yourself because you will be judged according to what you do . So do not think that your parents are not there they are not watching you that you can do whatever you want to do. Even your mother is also struggling to do her own so that we all reap success in aljalna firdaus. So if you don’t behave the way you are supposed to behave, when you go to your grave, you will be alone in your grave. Your mum is not there, your dad is not there, your friends that instigated you to go and do what is against the law of Islam will not be there. So let’s try as much as possible to do what we are supposed to do and make sure that whatever you are doing, whatever circumstances it is something that you are proud of.
Amirah Aisha Tukur still explaining the virtues of putting on hijab said covering one’s body with hijab from head to toe earns her respect and dignity which will lead to a good husband and a happy home.
There is beauty in wearing hijab and is a commandment from Allah for a woman not to expose her body.
According to Quran 7, verse 26
“We have sent down clothes to cover your shame and to beautify you.”
So hijab should be won and seen as something of dignity and pride.
A woman in hijab should know how to conduct herself. She should be of an exemplary character for others to emulate. She added.
The facilitator at the sensitization and awareness programme, Permanent Commissioner, Peace Commission, Kaduna state, Hajiya Khadijat Hawaja Gambo, lamenting charged girls especially students in higher institutions to be weary of their actions saying, many are being deceived, abused, violated which she attributed to the exposure of their body to those who are not expected to see it.
The after effect being the destruction of their academy pursuits.
Do not be deceived by what people say about hijab quating verses from the holy Quran to buttress her point on decent dressing.
“In the same vein that Allah instructs us, directs us, decreed that we Muslims should pray, fast , give alms , performance holy pilgrimage, so also has He decreed it on Muslim women to wear hijab. To dress decently by covering themselves while cautioning that they do away with things that might cause them regret.
Amir educational technology department, Musa Abubakar appreciated the entire students on the successful sensitization and awareness programme while pleading that more awareness be created in different parts of the state to enhance decency in the society.
