Lawmaker Hon. Doguwa Rises as UN Peace Ambassador, Adding a New Feather to His Cap

Hon. Alhassan Ado Doguwa, a prominent Nigerian lawmaker and Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Petroleum (Upstream), has been appointed a Peace Ambassador by the United Nations Peace Ambassadors Foundation (UN-PAF).

The announcement was made in an official letter dated March 29, 2026, and delivered through the Daura Emirate Council, according to a statement by his Principal Private Secretary, Abdullahi Lawal Lere.

Hon. Doguwa, who also represents the Doguwa/Tudunwada Federal Constituency and is a former House Leader, received the honor in recognition of his unwavering dedication to peacebuilding, strong leadership, humanitarian progress, and community development—not only within his constituency but across Nigeria and Africa as a whole.

In this new and exalted role, he will join other UN-PAF Africa Ambassadors to champion peace, diplomacy, and conflict resolution initiatives. He will also represent the foundation in strategic partnerships and help support its emergency response and evacuation efforts across the continent.

Professor Kingsley Ossai, Chairman of UN-PAF, expressed confidence in the appointment, stating that Hon. Doguwa’s new position will greatly enhance the foundation’s strategic presence in Africa.

Meanwhile, the Emir of Daura, Alhaji Faruq Umar Faruq, extended his heartfelt congratulations to Hon. Doguwa, praying for his continued success and excellence in this new chapter of service.
