2019 Kaduna Guber: We are Battle Ready to take Over Kaduna State and Restore it’s

Glory –DG Campaign Organization, Maina Zazzau

Zainab Tanimu

Kaduna, Nort h-West, NIGERIA

One of the Kaduna State Governorship aspirants Dr. Muhammad Bello popularly known as Maina Zazzau is one candidate to watch out for amongst the contenders eyeing the Sir Kashim Ibrahim House come 2019.

A detribalized and focused Bello whose policy of Justice and Fairness stands him out is contesting under the platform of the opposition party, PDP.

If elected, his people oriented stewardship would not only help to galvanize Kaduna state but would help to bring back its lost glory for he is, according to the DG Campaign, ‘SOLUTION 2019’.

The DG Campaign, Alhaji Sukeiman Lawal (Jarman Kauru) in an interview with Zainab Tanimu of Newsreservoir opens up on the outstanding leadership qualities of this promising young aspirant.

Excerpts.

We are battle ready to take over Kaduna state. We are taking it steadily; we want to be very careful. We don’t want to rush into anything; we are taking our time in order to be effective and efficient.

To be efficient is to do the right thing and to be effective is to do it right and we are trying to do both. We know power belongs to Almighty Allah. He gives it to whoever he loves. He takes it away from who He loves and gives it to who He loves. So, we are looking for this position and pray that Almighty Allah gives us this position and bless it when we get it.

Sir, many people are vying for this seat. Does that not give you any worries?

We are aware of the many contestants vying for this seat.  The more the merrier. You see, all of us know that it is only one person that would become the governor of Kaduna state and under the PDP.  We hope that it is Maina Zauzau that would be the governor of Kaduna state. Other contestants are equally qualified but Allah has chosen one. None of us knows who that person is. We are continuing to pray that Allah has already chosen Maina Zauzau.

In our campaign, we are not going to discuss personality we are going to discuss issues.

Human development and infrastructural development. We would use the economy, education and the environment to make sure that Kaduna state is fully developed. We don’t want to insult or accuse anybody because at the long run is one of the contestants that would ‘be’ and when he is chosen either through primary election or through consensus, all of us would now collapse to come out and campaign for him so that Kaduna state  comes under the Peoples’ Democratic Party

From your explanation sir, it appears you are battle ready

Sure!

PDP we know is resurrecting after about three years of dwindling down, are you really battle ready because the opponents are in good position and are watching you and not resting on their owls too.

Certainly, it is the normal thing. It is a democratic dispensation and every party is free to showcase its candidate but Allah would decide.  infact He has already decided who would ‘be’ and we are battle ready as you said because our aim is to restore the honor of Kaduna state.

We want to make it the center of learning. We want to develop education in particular because any community who is denied education, you have killed the community.

Education is the vehicle for any meaningful human development. Education is supposed to make you fit to live and fit to live with. It is not just mere degree or whatever but your ability to live in peace with people and people to live in peace with you. That is what we want to establish in Kaduna state.

Yes PDP is already rejuvenated by the people in the PDP.  So as far as the other party is concerned, yes, they are there, they are suffering for what is called, political arrogance. Even though they have the instruments of power, they would use the instruments of power to intimidate the opposition to make sure that nobody talks. That is not the type of democracy we want in Kaduna state and Nigeria as a whole. If you are in PDP, they accuse you or they suspect you of embezzling some money somewhere. If tomorrow you decamp to APC, you are a saint. That is crude. It is uncivilized.

When Saraki defected from PDP to APC, he was hailed. When Tamuwwal defected to APC, he was also hailed but now that same Tambuwal defected from APC to PDP, he is a criminal. The governor of Benue state is now a criminal and other people that are in PDP and defected to APC are now saints. So, the party is nothing to write home about.

How would you advise co-contestants on this one slot that they have gotten which is to be occupied by only one of them?

My advice is that they should accept that one person who God has chosen. Whoever Almighty Allah has chosen they should accept him; support him so that we can emancipate Kaduna state from the shackle of tyranny.

You have so much emphasized on education. Would it be right to say it is an area whereby your candidate has an edge over the other aspirants?

Of course yes. My candidate is well versed in education. He was a lecturer; he was Head of Department Accounting and Finance in Ahmadu Bello University Zaria. A Dean of Faculty,  Social Sciences KASU. He has a PHD in Accounting and Finance so he is an academic. He is not a teacher but an academic and a lecturer. We are the teachers who we taught in primaries and secondary schools. And the situation in primary schools in Kaduna is really pathetic. Throughout the term that is just concluded there was no teaching.

In a school where there were 50 teachers, they were sacked and only about 5, 6 remaining. Interviews were conducted for those who had the so-called competency test. That is not competency test. What they did was weeding test. No educational consultant used. In any examination you don’t determine the pass mark until you finish marking then you see the highest and the lowest and then determine the pass mark. But here, before they even finish marking they said 75% was the pass mark. That does not augur well for the sector.
