Lere – Kaduna: Families of Kidnapped Victims Cry Out … seek government intervention Kaduna

The families of victims kidnapped in Lere local government Council area in Kaduna state, Gidan Waya in Yarkasuwa,  have cried out to Kaduna state government to help intervene in their present predicament by rescuing their loved ones in captivity.

Speaking on behalf of the families, Rabo Sabo Jantsauni, Chairman  Elders Forum Gidan Waya Yarkasuwa Saminaka, Lere Local Government Council Kaduna lamented the critical condition of the families who he said have waited in vain for the release of the victims despite the 40million ransom demanded which was given.

The community he said is now living in abject poverty because it harvested over  three thousand bags of maize to sell to make up the money demanded.

The families of the victims are appealing to the government to intervene to ensure the safety of the victims.

“I have come here today on behalf of the families of the victims kidnapped on the 11th on November, 2025 in order to inform the government.

“We don’t really know if his Excellency, the governor of Kaduna state, Sen. Uba Sani is aware or not. Also, our Hon. Chairman, Lere local government council, Mr. Jafaru Ahmed if the information has reached him. That is why we decided with the families of the victims to seek the assistance of the press to help pass our message to the state government, the local government, even the federal government.

“We are in a critical condition here in yarkasuwa because of what happened to us. We have sold all our grains. We need assistance. We are calling on the governor to please assist us to manage our lives.

“Kidnappers attacked our villages they killed four (4) people five were injured and thirteen (13) were kidnapped. Abducting

men, women, and children.”

Rabo however appreciated Hon. Member, Engr. Ahmed Manir representing Lere federal constituency and Hon. Munirat Suleiman Tanimu, majority leader, for sending delegations and aids. Also the DPO Lere local government council for his concern. The people of Lere Local government council he said had never experienced such thing before. They have been coexisting peacefully with one another. A statement earlier issued by AKURMI DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION (AKURDA) dated 12th November, 2025, had strongly condemned the deadly attack on the community. It called for government and military intervention. The statement reads:

The Akurmi Development Association (AKURDA) woke up to the disheartening news of bandits/kidnappers ravaging one of our communities, Gidan Waya in Yarkasuwa, Lere Local Government Area of Kaduna State. The attackers struck on the night of 11th November, 2025, killing four (4) people and abducting twelve (12) people – men, women, and children.

“AKURDA strongly condemns this brutal attack and kidnapping of our people who were in their night sleep.

The statement signed by the National President, AKURDA, Mr. Yakubu J. Maigamo and made available  by the National Public Relations Officer  AKURDA, Mr. Pius Kyauta Agaji  is calling on the executive governor Sen. Uba Sani to come to the  community ‘s rescue by  bringing all perpetrators to book. Urging the Lere Local Government Chairman, to do the needful, and that deployment of more security personnel around Gidan Waya community of upmost importance

While urging that people remain vigilant, “May the souls of those killed rest in peace.” The statement added.
