Katsina Govt Distributes Modern Equipment to 60 Rehabilitated PHCs Across State

The Katsina State Ministry for Local Government and Emirate Affairs has commenced the distribution of modern hospital equipment to recently rehabilitated Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) across the state, with 60 facilities already benefiting from the exercise.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Alhaji Mas’udu Almustapha Banye, disclosed this while monitoring the distribution of another batch of equipment to Dabawa and Hayin Gada PHCs under the Dutsinma Zonal Centre. He explained that the equipment forms part of a joint procurement for 68 PHCs rehabilitated across the 34 local government areas of the state.

According to him, the latest distribution covered 20 PHCs spread across 10 local government areas under the Dutsinma and Daura Zonal Centres, bringing the total number of equipped facilities to 60 so far.

To ensure transparency and proper handling, the Ministry assigned its Directors to the respective local government areas to supervise the distribution and formally hand over the equipment to local authorities and management of the benefiting PHCs.

Local government areas under the Dutsinma Zonal Centre that benefited include Batsari, Danmusa, Dutsinma, Kurfi and Safana. In the Daura Zonal Centre, the benefiting LGAs are Baure, Daura, Mai’adua, Sandamu and Zango.

In Dutsinma Zonal Centre, the selected PHCs include Dabawa and Hayin Gada in Dutsinma LGA; Shirgi and Kukar Toro in Batsari LGA; Dandire and Maidabino in Danmusa LGA; Kurfi and Kaware in Kurfi LGA; as well as Yarlilo and Baure in Safana LGA.

Similarly, PHCs that benefited under the Daura Zonal Centre include Dan Kum and Faskari in Baure LGA; Sharawa and Duhu in Daura LGA; Maigatari and Kwadage in Mai’adua LGA; Lemo and Kwasarawa in Sandamu LGA; and Dargage and Kawurin Malamai in Zango LGA.

Alhaji Mas’udu Banye expressed satisfaction with the smooth handover process and stressed that the equipment was provided for immediate and effective use, not for storage. He urged health officials to ensure proper utilisation of the facilities to improve healthcare delivery in the benefiting communities.
