Rotary Club of Kawo Kaduna Hosts Peace Dialogue, Ramadan Breakfast to Promote Unity

The Rotary Club of Kawo, Kaduna, has organized a peace and conflict resolution programme alongside a Ramadan breakfast aimed at encouraging dialogue, unity, and peaceful coexistence within the community.

The event, themed “Peace and Conflict Resolution,” which was held in Kaduna brought together Rotarians, Rotaractors, community leaders, and other distinguished guests for discussions on promoting harmony in society.

Speaking at the event, the President of the Rotary Club of Kawo Kaduna, Rotarian Ramatu Ibrahim, said the initiative was organized as part of the club’s contribution to ongoing efforts to promote peace and strengthen unity among people of different backgrounds.

She noted that peace and conflict resolution have remained major global concerns, attracting significant attention in public discourse, policymaking, and academic research, particularly in the 21st century due to the rising complexity and frequency of conflicts worldwide.

According to her, the programme was designed to create a platform for constructive dialogue and to encourage communities to work together in building sustainable peace.

To enrich the discussions, the organizers invited speakers representing the two major faiths—Islam and Christianity—to share perspectives on peaceful coexistence and mutual respect among people regardless of religious or ethnic differences.

During the session, the speakers examined the root causes of conflicts and emphasized the importance of dialogue, tolerance, and collaboration in resolving disputes within communities.

Both speakers stressed the significance of sustaining peace, especially during the holy month of Ramadan, and encouraged participants to promote understanding, respect, and harmony within their communities.

The programme concluded with a collective call for participants to reflect on the discussions and continue working together to foster peace and unity in line with Rotary’s mission to “Unite for Good.”
