The lecture, themed “Whoever Saves a Life Saves All Humanity,” attracted members of the Muslim community and other invited guests.

Delivering the keynote lecture, Prof. Musa Olaofe, Chief Imam of the Ansar-ud-Deen Society of Nigeria, Abuja Branch, emphasised that life is sacred and should always be treated with utmost respect.

According to him, regardless of religion or ethnic background, every human life represents an entire world and must therefore be safeguarded.

He explained that the preservation of a single life reflects the value and dignity of all humanity.

Prof. Olaofe noted that saving lives goes beyond emergency actions, adding that acts such as providing water, education, employment opportunities, and protection for others are all ways of preserving life.

“When you give people water, you save lives. When you provide education or jobs, you save lives. Protecting others also means you are preserving life,” he said.

The cleric further encouraged Muslims to contribute positively to society by impacting the lives of others through acts of kindness and service, noting that such gestures can transform communities and bring lasting benefits to humanity.

Prof. Olaofe also stressed the importance of peaceful coexistence among people of different backgrounds. He urged Islamic organisations and communities to work together in unity, not only during Ramadan but throughout the year, to promote peace and mutual understanding.

He warned against actions that harm or destroy lives, advising individuals to avoid hostility and instead embrace compassion and unity.

Speaking on faith and destiny, the cleric encouraged believers to accept that some events in life are destined by Allah. According to him, embracing this understanding brings inner peace and strengthens spiritual resilience.

Prof. Olaofe also highlighted the importance of maintaining cordial relationships with non-Muslims, describing them as neighbours and members of the wider community.

He urged Muslims to invite others to Islam through wisdom, good character, and constructive dialogue.
