Kaduna SWAN: Major shake up as  Assistant Secretary, Jacob  Onjewu Dickson Becomes Secretary,  Abdulwaheed Adubi, Treasurer

Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Kaduna State chapter made major shake up in its executive hierarchy in a well attended emergency Congress by the exco and members.

Rising from its emergency Congress, and invoking S.22 of Statutes of SWAN, the congress appointed assistant secretary, Jacob Onjewu Dickson, Publisher and CEO of Authentic News, online newspaper, as Acting Secretary following the official transfer of the former Secretary Beni Adams to NTA Abuja.  According to the Statutes he (Beni) shall be required to resign his post within three months. Hence from last Tuesday , August 5, 2019 Onjewu shall be on acting capacity.

Similarly, in a related development, Abdulwaheed Adubi, Publisher, CEO of A-Z  Newstime online newspaper was been nominated and confirmed as the chapter’s Treasurer, following the transfer of Ms Emelda Joy Odor of Nagarta Radio also to Abuja, and her subsequent resignation.

Kaduna State SWAN Chairman, Comrade Isaiah Benjamin told the members at the emergency Congress that the decision was in line with the association’s Statutes, following the transfer of the elected Secretary, Beni Adams, by his employers NTA, to Abuja.

Comrade Benjamin explained that the acting secretary, Onjewu, will serve in same capacity for a maximum of three months, within which Mr. Adams would be expected to turn in his resignation.

Comrade Benjamin however explained that even though the statutes empowers him to nominate a replacement which will be ratified by other executives, he gave the congress an opportunity to select the replacement, prompting Amina Anebi to nominate Adubi, and was instantly seconded by Veteran sports journalist, Jacob Zango.
