NYG: Sports Ministries to Embark on Periodic Camping For Discovered Talents -Minister

Sports has been identified as key to any nation’s development. It is in the light of this that machineries are being put in place to take it an enviable height.

Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Mr. Sunday Akin Dare

made this revalation while presenting some of the gifted athletes discovered from the 5th National Youth Games (NYG) to newsmen at the University of Ilorin on Sunday September 15, 2019.

Commending the athletes, the minister assured that aside the federation’s input in developing the talents, the ministry would henceforth, embark on periodic camping for the athletes to nurture them to make Nigeria proud in the future.

“We want to make sure that beyond sending these young ones to federations we want to introduce periodic camping system so that we can nurture them and watch them grow to stardom.

“I deliberately decided to see these few ones, I know they will be more because at the  last games 250 were discovered.

“On Monday night when I  was here, met with all the Directors of Sports (DoS) and we rubbed minds. Let me thank the DoS because without you, this NYG wouldn’t be successful in spite of the fact that you are facing so much challenges.

He said that the talents discovered would be penciled down and handed over to sports federation for Jeeping tabs on.
