Eye Opener Women and Youths Foundation Embarks on Peace Walk

 Eye Opener Women and Youths Foundation today as part of its peace campaign strategy embarked on road walk.
The peace walk which was meant to create awareness on the need for people to imbibe the spirit of oneness for the generality of a united front commenced from the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Secretariat with some of its members joining the walk down Kaduna town attracting attention of residents who listened to the word of peace.
Addressing journalists shortly after the walk, the President and Founder Eye Opener Women and Youths Foundation, Mrs. Margaret Kwa’ada Julius assured her foundation’s determination to restore peace and unity in Kaduna state.
Lamenting over ugly incidences hapening in the society, Margaret called on the need to work together for sustainable peace in the nation at large. No nation progresses in a chaotic situation. She stressed.
 “We are peace advocates especially out to bring peace to reign in the society mostly among the youths and reason we introduced what we called “Together We Stand”.
“Today, we come out to join the United Nation in celebrating the World Peace Day; especially to remind ourselves in Kaduna state, Nigeria, Africa and the World at large.
“We are here today to say, we must go back to our old Nigeria of our great founding fathers who have suffered to bring everybody together as one in this country.
“In our Nigeria Coat of Arm, we see Unity, peace, faith and progress but today what are we seeing? Today something happened with our unity reason we are experiencing all the evil activities going on today.
“For us to move forward, lets go back to our old Nigeria where love is the most words and that will prove us as giant of Africa” she said.
Madam Julius tasked every family to start this peace initiative from their homes for better result.
Those in hidding and have taken themselves to the bush where they commit atrocity she appealed should come out and be part of everybody again as that place is not their homes. Together they can make peace reign. She added.
She urged the government at all level to work for peace as no meaningful development can be achieved without it.
On it part, the Kaduna state Police Command had reiterated its commitments in its stride in making the state peaceful and violent free.
 the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Sabon-Gari, Kaduna, Chief Superintendent of Police Uzairu Abdullahi who represented the Commissioner of Police, Kaduna state CP Ali Janga stated this while commending the efforts of the NGO in its struggles to restore peace to the state.
The Commissioner expressed happiness seeing people of different religious and ethnic groups  trooping out for the same cause.
“Police especially is happy with the way people are getting it right now, talking about peace in Kaduna state and Nigeria as a whole.
“We need peace everywhere in the world. Nothing works without peace.
The Command is ever ready to make kaduna state a peaceful and violent free for citizens to live in.
If there is no peace, both Christians and Muslims would not be able to worship in their churches and mosques. He stressed.”
He called for a joint efforts to ensure that peace reign in the society.
Speaking, the Overseer Christ Evangelical and Life Intervention Fellowship, Pastor Yohana Buru commending the foundation for their peace efforts described it as a begining that would see better days to come.
He said peace is not only the problem of Kaduna, or Nigeria alone but Africa as a whole. He urged that people to imbibe the spirit of oneness to promote peace.
The pastor prayed for the country and leaders who he urged to always be just in their dealings.
The Council Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Comrade Adamu Yusuf earlier in his speach also commended the group’s innitiative.
No meaningful development he said can be achieved without peace.
“We need peace in our wards, in our districts, in the state.
Adamu appealed to the local government chairmen,security agents to support the group saying the coming together of people of different tribes and faiths for a common goal shows that people are tired of crisis.
He assured the union’s readiness to partner with the group on its peace mission.
Contributing, President Middle Belt while appreciating the good work of Eye Opener Women and Youth Foundation in it search for peace said hope is not lost. All that is needed is for everyone to work towards achieving needed peace.
“Ninety-nine percent of Nigerians are made up of Christians and Muslims.Only one percent are idol worshippers. Why can’t there be peace?
We cannot continue to pay lip service.That is why we are where we are today.”
 He urged government to play its own role by living up to the expectations of its citizens.
“There is hope in this country. Peace cannot come from anywhere if we do not make peace by ourselves.
Going outside a state and bringing people to make peace doesn’t make sense. Is it is ‘you’ and ‘l’ that would make peace. He stated.
Eye Opener Women and Youths Foundation is a non governmental and non profitable organization.
