Governor Zulum At poultry Production Unit, tasks Commissioner, Others On Productivity
MAIDUGURI Northeast Nigeria:
Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum while on early morning visit to the Ministry of Animal Resources and Fisheries Development, poultry production unit, along Gamboru Ngala road Maiduguri on Tuesday had charged that the ministry stepped up on it productivity.
The Governor took both the Commissioner and others to task saying,
“his administration will support poultry production in the state, which he added will provide job opportunities to the teeming youth population.
Zulum however charged the Commissioner, Mrs Juliana Bitrus and staff of the unit to ensure good management, accountability and to look into the possibility of expanding their production beyond Maiduguri.
“The only way you can succeed is by ensuring good management, proper cost benefit analysis”. Zulum said.
“Your success largely depends on you, if you can take good care of your staffs, motivate them, then, nothing will hinder your success”. Zulum added.
The Governor, who was taken round by the Commissioner of Animal Resources and Fisheries Development, inspected
hatchery, newly rehabilitated and equipped battery cages and feed production facility.
The Commissioner explained to the Governor that the unit produced between 3 to 4 tons in a day, while the hatchery has the capacity to produce over 80,000 chicks in a month. Mrs Bitrus added that the ministry will commercialise the feed production facility to create jobs and boost revenue generation of the state.
Governor Zulum was also at the state mechanical workshop store, where he inspected the skills acquisition facility procured by the state government.
Zulum impressed with the materials procured directed the Commissioner of Science, Technology and Innovation Dr. Babagana Malumbe to complete the installation at Dikwa skills acquisition facility in two weeks and thereafter, commence operations immediately.
The Governor was also at Zajeri ward to inspect an ongoing construction of solid
waste disposal facility, he directed the Commissioner of Environment Engr. Kabir Wanori to identify communities with serious waste disposal problems for replication of similar projects.
Earlier, Governor Zulum was at Custom to assess the progress of an ongoing flyover bridge work. Zulum also inspected proposed site for the relocation of vegetable sellers displaced as result of the flyover bridge construction.
