COVID-19: Gombe State Molecular Diagnostic Laboratory Opens For Covid-19 Test

The Gombe State Molecular Diagnostic Laboratory is now open for COVID-19 test.
The Laboratory which is located at the public health laboratory complex, Specialist Hospital has the capacity of testing 50 samples per day in the first instance.
The Commissioner of Health, Ahmed Gana who revealed this said with time,  the facility will increase its testing capacity to 120 per day.
So far, about 16 positive cases were recorded from the lab. He informed.
Ahmed however assured of an increase in the daily sample test.
“We can run 150 samples per day. We are proposing running 2 shifts per day.
We must measure the burden of COVID-19 in the state and we can do that by testing.
“The only way to combat this infection is through prevention before we have a vaccine.” Covid -19 is real he said.
As for the public response,  it is encouraging. He added.
