Kaduna:Sheikh Gumi’s Peace Mission, A Step In The Right Direction – NUJ

The Nigeria Union of Journalists Kaduna has commended the on going peace mission initiative embarked upon by a renowned Kaduna based Islamic scholar, Sheikh Ahmed Gumi.
The commendation was given during the union’s congress chaired by council Chairman, Adamu Yusuf held on Thursday, 21st January 2021.
The congress expressing worries over the state of insecurity in the nation and Kaduna noted that the Peace campaign is beginning to yield fruitful result as there has been some level of understanding reached between the aggrieved Fulani’s and the campaign team  of Sheikh Ahmed Gumi to embrace peace.
The team comprising security agents went to various fulani localities within the state to preach against banditry and Kidnapping.
With the progress made, there is the need for the government and every individual to support this course in order that the state can move forward. The congress stated.
Also commended is governor El-Rufai’s Urban Renewal’s Project, which is geared towards giving the state a face lift.
The Chairman charged members to give their best in the discharge of their duties considering the importance of their role in nation building.
The communiqué signed by the Council Chairman, Comrade Adamu Yusuf and Council Secretary, Comrade John Femi Adi,reads thus:
The Congress after deliberating on a number of issues affecting the union, the state resolved as follows:
1. Commended Sheikh Ahmed Gumi, for the personal efforts made to meet with kidnappers/bandits in their hideouts to convince them to lay off their arms against the Nation.
2. Expressed worries over the growing insecurity problem in the State and noted that what is happening in the state required the support of all citizens, therefore called on all the citizens to support the government to win the war against insecurity.
3. Urged members to be security conscious ; mindful of where they go and what they do at this critical times for their own safety.
4 .Commended the urban renewal efforts of Kaduna State government , but reiterated call for expansion of  the projects to other parts of State, especially southern part of the metropolis.
5, Condoled  Kaduna State Government on the  death of two prominent members of the Zazau Emirate Council; Dan Iyyan Zazzau Alhaji Bashir Aminu and Talba  Zazzau, Abubakar Pate, who died recently.
