A group under the auspices of Northern Consensus Movement (NCM) says it is not in support of Sen. Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s political ambition.
This was revealed in a statement titled *Stealing the past of the North* issued and signed by the President of the group, Comrade Awwal Abdullahi Aliyu and made available to the media.
According to the group, the senator had never bordered about northerners wellbeing.
A  point of reference being that of recent #EndSARS protests and the Shasa ethnic cleansing of Northerners residing in the southern parts of the country which it said the senator was silence about.
However, the group has described the recent move as political miscalculation.
 The statement reads thus:
” We of the Northern Consensus Movement (NCM) have watched with keenness Sen. Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s desperate hopping from one Northern state to another in a subtle attempt at kick starting his political campaigns. While this in itself is not wrong, his attempt to steal the past of the North and make us forget the wrongs done to us which have not gone unnoticed.
” During the #EndSARS protests and the recent Shasa ethnic cleansing of Northerners when Northerners were being killed in various parts of the south nothing was heard from Tinubu in the form of condemnation of the massacre, condolences to the victims or even assistance to them. These actions and inactions have not gone unnoticed by the North.
The group also accused Tinubu of inaction over the killing and destruction of properties of Northerners during his reign as Governor of Lagos State. According to them, leaving the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC), a Yoruba nationalist organization in Nigeria to continue their aggression on Northerners.
” Today, Bola Ahmed Tinubu is all over the North lobbying and tactically campaigning to be accepted politically.
His visit to the president’s home state of Katsina and the subsequent donation of the sum of Five Hundred Million Naira (#500,000,000) to the victims of the market fire only smacks of attempts to curry the President’s favour.
” Again, his visit to Kaduna state and chairing a Sardauna Memorial lecture at Arewa House as well as the celebration of his 69th colloquium political birthday in Kano reveals his deliberate intention to seek the approval of Northerners for his political ambition.
” The posers to Tinubu are “where was he when his southern brothers were committing numerous atrocities against the northerners and what role has he played in preventing such unfortunate incidents from happening in the future?”
” As Northerners, we believe that leadership is an attribute of the Almighty creator as such no political leader be they elected or appointed will determine who Northerners will elect as president come 2023. The affairs of the Northern lot will not and cannot be determined or directed by any religious or traditional leader (elder) in 2023 because we are now more than ever more conscious of our rights, capabilities and privileges.
As far as we are concerned, political participation in Northern Nigeria come 2023 will be determined by competence, Merit, Patriotism, Nationalism and proven integrity not Regional, ethnic, religious and political party sentiments or affiliations.
” We therefore call on all well meaning Nigerians of Northern extraction to be wary of all political scavengers as it will no longer be Business as usual but business unusual as far as the next elections are concerned.
Sen. Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his enablers only want to steal the past of the North and pretend that nothing happened. This is a political miscalculation desirous of amendments if the ship must sail. We shall not forget the past however hard they try to steal and dump it in the trash can. Tinubu should take steps to amend the terrible atrocities of the past against the North with a view to mitigating against future occurrences.
A word is said to be enough for the wise. ”
The statement ended.
