Report On El Rufa’i’s threat to Seize NUJ Kaduna Secretariat Building For  Supporting NLC Protest, Is Baseless – NUJ

The Nigeria Union of Journalists  (NUJ) Kaduna State Council has reacted to a report by a social media platform alleging that the Kaduna State Government intends to seize the NUJ Kaduna Secretariat Building for supporting the NLC protest.

This allegation the Council considers  baseless as there is no such move.

This was contained in a statement  jointly issued and signed by the Council Chairman, Comrade Adamu Yusuf and Council Secretary, Comrade Femi Adi respectively.

It states:

“The attention of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Kaduna state Council has been drawn to a social media post with the caption ” El Rufa’i threatens to seize the NUJ Kaduna Secretariat Building for their support for NLC protest”.

“Kaduna Council of the NUJ wishes to state that the post, which went viral on different social media platforms is baseless and unfounded.

“The post is mischievous and  only intended to disparage the reputation of the governor and to create disharmony between Kaduna state government and the union.

“At no point in time did the Council paid a courtesy call to the governor to even warrant such a position from Malam Nasir El Rufa’i.

“Kaduna Council of the NUJ views the post as the handiwork of faceless mischief makers who are bent on creating tension where none exist.

“The Council urges its members to remain calm and to continue to remain professional in their day-to-day operations, as it has taken steps to unearth the source of the malicious post.
