Zainab Tanimu
Kaduna, North – West, Nigeria
A group under the umbrella of “Vision Heal Nigeria” has expressed concern over the present state of the country.
It said the country needs healing as such every hand needs to be on deck to bring about needed change.
This was expressed during the occasion of the inauguration and swearing in ceremony of it’s Executive members.
The Founder and National president of the Association, Peace Amb High Chief Christopher Columbus Geoman
made this known in his welcome address speech.
Explaining the mission and vision of the group, he said it is a group with the vision of creating a new Nigeria with an un-polluted but patriotic mindset with the sole aim of National Rebirth.
He charged Nigerians to remain steadfast in this calling for, “it is not a 100 dash, but a Marathon, and it is only won by those with the greatest endurance.”
Explaining further, he said,
“The 27th of May, 2021 will not be forgotten so easily in the memories of Nigerians. While it is a day set aside to celebrate with children all over the world, the recent killings and kidnapping of children in our country Nigeria,  leaves a sour taste in the mouth. This made the gathering of some good spirited Nigerians to kickstart a grown aimed at addressing the malaise.”
Speakers at the event had in their submissions confirmed that truly the nation is very sick and needed healing.
The Co-Executive Director, Interfaith Mediation Center/UN Peace Ambassador,  Sheik Nureni Ashafa
had in his speech urged Nigerians to work toward healing the country.
He called on the need to awaken our consciousness, making reference to Martin Luther, a German theologian and religious reformer, a son of nobody who was the catalyst of the 16th-century Protestant Reformation.
Change he said must begin with us.
However, he noted that our leaders have failed us and that irrespective of their failures, we must come together to heal the country.
“We need a healing power to move us from our present predicaments.
“Don’t underate your power, don’t underate your power to change Nigeria.” He encouraged.
In his call to heal Nigeria, Comrade Abdulsalaam Kolo said, we are yet to agree that we have a problem. We are supposed to harness our diversity as a people rather than allow it to divide us. The first thing we need to remember is, “I am a Nigerian. Let’s heal Nigeria, we are sick, let’s forget the 2023 first”. He urged.
Another contributor, Madam Tina Grace said there is need to be courageous. According to her, “Courage is the answer. Courage is what we need. Courage to speak the truth whether you are a northerner, or southerner. What we leave behind us is what matters.”
Tina has a project directed towards educating teenage girls on the need to realize their potentials as a means to realizing their dreams.
Also speaking, Mallam Lawal Magaji emphasized on the issue of peace and national unity. People he said are not living up to the pledge made of being faithful and honest to the country. He described the vision of the group as a new vision that will heal the land.
“Never should you be happy that someone is killed in the northern or southern part of the country.” He called.
In their separate contributions, representative of Kaduna State Media Cooperation, (KSMC) Engr. Benjamin and Hon. Bilal Alilu stressed on the need to make Nigeria great.
Engr. Benjamin confessed that he grew up in a Kaduna where there there was no discrimination and that “It was an era that we enjoyed.”
According to Hon. Bilal, “the other generation had it good but handed garbage to this generation.”  We should be more proactive and do the right thing.
The overall message is that, we need to change our mindsets to be able to heal Nigeria.
