Tinubu Names Former President ‘s Son Muhammad Babangida, New BOA Chairman

President Ahmed Tinubu has named Muhammad Babangida the son of the former military president, Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida as the new Chairman of the Bank of Agriculture. (BOA)

The appointment of Muhammad Babangida was made known today, Friday, July 18, 2025, in a statement signed by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
According to the statement,
“Muhammad Babangida, 53, is an alumnus of the European University in Montreux, Switzerland, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a Master’s degree in Public Relations and Business Communication,
“He also attended Harvard Business School’s Executive Program on Corporate Governance in 2002.”
Also appointed by the president is Lydia Kalat Musa from Kaduna State as Chairman of the Oil and Gas Free Zones Authority (OGFZA); Jamilu Wada Aliyu from Kano State as Chairman of the National Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC); and Hon. Yahuza Ado Inuwa, also from Kano, as Chairman of the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON).
Sanusi Musa, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria from Kano State, has been named Chairman of the Institute of Peace and Conflict Resolution (IPCR), while Professor Al-Mustapha Alhaji Aliyu from Sokoto State will serve as Director-General of the Directorate of Technical Cooperation in Africa (DTCA).
Sanusi Garba Rikiji from Zamfara State has been appointed Director-General of the Nigerian Office for Trade Negotiations (NOTN), and Mrs Tomi Somefun from Oyo State will take up the role of Managing Director of the National Hydro-Electric Power Areas Development Commission (HYPPADEC).
Dr Abdulmumini Mohammed Aminu-Zaria from Kaduna State has has also been appointed, Executive Director of the Nigerian Integrated Water Resources Management Commission (NIWRMC). The statement added.
