3-Day Fidau Prayer: NASFAT Kaduna Zone Mourns Exco Member Hajiya Medinat Salawudeen, Urges Reflection on Life and Death

An atmosphere of solemn reflection and heartfelt tributes enveloped members of NASFAT Kaduna Zone as family, friends and well-wishers gathered for the three-day Fidau prayer of one of its Executive Committee members, Hajiya Medinat Salawudeen.
The late Hajiya Medinat, who served as the Women Affairs Secretary of NASFAT Kaduna Main Branch, passed away barely a month after the Zone mourned another member, hajiya Fatima Liman (Atakabir) of NASFAT Doka branch, making her demise yet another painful loss for the Islamic organisation.
Those who spoke at the prayer session described her as a humble, dedicated, peaceful and accommodating woman whose life was devoted to the worship of Allah, service to humanity and the growth of NASFAT.
Delivering a thought-provoking lecture titled “How Prepared Are We for Death?”, the Missioner of NASFAT Kaduna Main Branch, Imam Mustapha Abdulkareem, reminded worshippers that death is inevitable and that every soul must prepare to meet its Creator through sincere worship and righteous deeds.
He stressed that Allah alone has absolute control over life and death, saying no human being possesses the power to inflict harm or terminate life except by the will of Allah.
According to him, Allah alone determines the affairs of mankind, bringing joy at one moment and allowing trials at another, urging believers to remain steadfast in all circumstances.
“This world is not a bed of roses. No one enjoys happiness throughout life, and no one remains in hardship forever. Every believer will certainly face moments of trial. What matters is our preparedness to meet Allah,” he said.
The Islamic scholar further cautioned against arrogance, reminding Muslims that positions and titles are temporary and that everyone will account for their deeds before Allah.
He urged worshippers to cultivate humility, forgive one another, strengthen their love for fellow Muslims and devote themselves entirely to the worship of Allah.
Reflecting on the life of the deceased, Imam Abdulkareem described Hajiya Medinat as a woman whose commitment to prayers, recitation of the Qur’an and service to Islam stood as exemplary qualities worthy of emulation.
He also highlighted the immense rewards promised by Allah for believers who patiently endure the loss of loved ones while placing their trust in Him.
Quoting the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), he explained that those who respond to bereavement with patience and gratitude to Allah are promised a special abode in Paradise known as the “House of Praise,” while righteous and obedient wives are also assured of great rewards in the Hereafter.
Speaking directly to the husband of the deceased, Alhaji Salawudeen, the cleric acknowledged the enormity of losing a life partner after nearly four decades of marriage.
“No one can truly replace such a companion. Living together for almost forty years, sharing life’s joys and challenges, is not something easily forgotten,” he said, praying that Allah grants him, the children and the entire family the strength to bear the irreparable loss and admit the deceased into Al-Jannatul Firdaus.
The husband of the deceased, Alhaji Salawudeen, expressed profound appreciation to NASFAT and members of the Muslim community for standing by the family throughout their period of grief.
He described his late wife as a loving, caring and obedient wife who devoted herself wholeheartedly to her family throughout their almost forty years of marriage.
He prayed that Allah forgives her shortcomings, accepts her good deeds and grants her Al-Jannatul Firdaus.
A representative of the deceased’s children also thanked NASFAT members, relatives and sympathisers for their prayers, support and show of love since the passing of their mother.
Earlier, the Qur’anic recitation was led by Imam Tijani, while the Fidau prayer was conducted by Imam Abdullahi Raji.
The Missioner of NASFAT Doka Branch and Zonal Vice Missioner, Imam Uthman Kabir, also delivered words of admonition,
encouraging Muslims to remain steadfast in faith, prepare for the Hereafter through righteous living and continue supporting one another in times of difficulty.
In his khutbah, the Zonal Missioner, Imam Maruf Alabi, reminded the congregation that death remains the greatest reminder of life’s temporary nature and urged Muslims to remain committed to obedience to Allah, uphold good character and leave behind legacies worthy of remembrance.
The Fidau prayer attracted members of various Islamic organisations, including Ansar-Ud-Deen Society, Nawair-Ud-Deen Society, the Kaduna Interfaith Group, relatives, friends and associates, many of whom described the late Hajiya Medinat Salawudeen as a compassionate, generous and accommodating woman whose good deeds would continue to speak for her.
Also present were Zonal Chairman Alhaji Saheed Popoola Gambari, elder committee chairmen, branch chairmen of all the branches and executive members of branches.
The Zonal Women Affairs Secretary hajiya Muibat Lawal was also there with her women Affairs secretaries and executive members.
Special prayers were offered for Allah to forgive her shortcomings, widen her grave, grant her eternal rest in Al-Jannatul Firdaus and give her family the fortitude to bear the loss.
