2023 Elections: Amaechi Resigns to Fulfill Presidential Dream

Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi has promised to resign as directed by President Muhammadu Buhari to members of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) that whoever is seeking election should resign in order that he can pursue his presidential dream.
While in Kaduna yesterday to officially make his declaration to realize his dream as well as garner the support of the
All Progressives Congress(APC) delegates, he said it is time for the younger ones to take the mantle of leadership.
According to him, he is the youngest and most experienced amongst them all.
“Our elders should go home and rest so that the younger ones can grow. I am the youngest aspirant but the most experienced.
Backing up his experience of tackling insecurity, he said.
“I have governed a state that has insecurity like Kaduna. I think many of you still remember those days that you can’t visit Portharcourt  .You were scared of coming to Portharcourt because of the level of insecurity. They were kidnapping, they were maiming,  they were raping our dear women, they were afraid to go out.
Six months of governance Gen. Buratai joined us.Then he was brigade commander, Abubakar Sadik was
 Air force commander, the former Inspector General of Police, Suleiman Abba was a commissioner of police  then”.
Amaechi added that due to his style of government, six months after the insecurity problem was tackled in Rivers state and things became normal and people went about their businesses without hinderance.
 “You could have a party in Portharcourt, You could go home late at night, twelve, one, anytime you want to go home.
” We worked tirelessly, we slept when others were awake and we were awake when everybody were sleeping and by the time we knew it, all these criminals were chased out of Port- Harcourt. So l have had experience of governing a state where there was insecurity. I had
contributions from the federal government. l made the state  government pay their contributions. We brought in all sorts of equipment from outside the country. We trained Nigerian police, send our soldiers outside the country, we returned them into Nigeria and we chased these criminals away. So l understand the game of the Kaduna man.
“I appreciate that and l assure you if given the opportunity to be president of federal republic of Nigeria, l will implore a similar strategy if not better.
If given the mandate to occupy the Aso rock, he said he will alleviate the sufferings of the people by creating an enabling economy.
“We will grow our economy in such a way that there is value addition. Everybody will be brought into agriculture. From agriculture,into industry and manufacturing
“If you don’t provide an economic, reality will provide for himself. We were there in Rivers state. We were in PDP and l said it several times, president Buhari did not bring poverty, he ran into poverty as he became president.The poverty was already in exixtence. PDP had mismanaged the economy and we were in trouble. What brings insecurity is poverty, is hunger in president Buhari’s government.
“In pursuance of economic prosperity l will continue and expand the agricultural programme of president Buhari. l will ensure that we grow what we need and we grow what we export.
 “If you process, you employ more persons, and when you employ more persons you create an economy that is growing and when economy is growing then crime will reduce.
“If you vote for me, l will ensure that those things happen.
Still recounting his achievements, he
 said,
Don’t forget everybody will come here to ask for your votes. All of us will come . Look for that candidate who is a Pan Nigerian candidate, who will protect the hausa Fulani man,protect the Ibo  man, protect the Yoruba man and protect the minority like me. One who understands that you’re a Nigerian and that when you take an oat of office, it means that you’re ready to die for Nigeria. So l will urge you as all of us come, always ask what have they done? Find out what they have done, and how well they have done. If l have not done well, my colleagues would not have made me Chairman , governor forum twice and l brought that to bear when l became minister of transport.
Speaking on the sad Kaduna – Abuja train incidence, he said.
I am sure all of us are not happy including me, l had an outburst when l went to inspect Kaduna-Abuja rail. The outburst was because l had applied to cabinet to approve for me to install the security gadgets of Kaduna down to Abuja so that we know when anybody gets to the track and they refused. And l got angry that if that approval were put in place, Our bulldoze equipment, probably we wouldn’t have had that inccidence we had. We did our best as government to ensure that lives and properties of the rail were safe.
Government he said is doing all it can to get those in released. “I join parents who are not happy to remain calm as government is doing everything to get them realeased.
“We are currently working hard on  the  Kaduna Kano – rail . Even though l am resigning tomorrow my colleagues in the ministry will continue the work we are doing  We have done 80 to 100 kilometers out of the 204. He stated.
Promising to resign Monday 16th 2022, he thanked President Buhari for giving him opportunity to serve.
Governor El-Rufai had described the Minister as very promising. A man who had who had worked for the party.
Addressing the delegates, El- Rufai said.
“Amaechi came and you promised giving him support. Now that he has come he said Kaduna delegates are different. Governor Rotimi has come.
In 2011 when we were in CPC and were to go to convention and we had no money then Amechi was the governor of  Rivers state under the PDP. l don’t know how he got to know and he gave that money to hold 2011 convention.
He assured him of Kaduna’s delegates support as he wished him a successful outcome.
