AGRICULTURE: MAAN President Bello Annur  Bags Award Of Excellence

The National President 0f Maize  Association Of Nigeria  Dr. Bello Abubakar Annur, has been conferred with an award of excellence on his efforts towards improving Maize production in Nigeria.

The award was bestowed on Bello Annur, by Northern Tourism Journalists for his outstanding role and contributions towards national development as an ” Icon Of Nation Building “.

Presenting the award, the acting Vice President of Northern Tourism Journalists,  Alhaji  Nasiru Salisu,  said MAAN  under the leadership of Bello Abubakar Annur  has emphasize on  improving maize production for use in Nigeria.

According to  him, Maize Association of Nigeria has increased productivity of maize in farmers’ fields, which  played an important role in achieving impressive growth the country is currently experiencing.

Alhaji Nasiru Salisu, said after an-indepth investigations carried out by a team of journalists, Northern  Nigeria gathered that, based on MAAN’s efforts , the production of maize has increased with 60 percent annual, adding  that “in 2015 the production of maize is 8 million metric tons and in 2022 is 20 million metric tons which is commendable” he said.

In his remarks,  the National President 0f Maize Association Of Nigeria  Dr. Bello Abubakar Annur said the Association would encourage maize farmers to adopt new varieties and learn new technologies to increase production.

He reiterated the association’s resolve to work with the federal government towards formulating standard and stable agriculture policy for the country.

Dr. Abubakar added that the association would support maize farmers with the best available inputs and technical support to boost maize production.

The president explained  that MAAN will support the Federal Government’s Agricultural policies and programmes in the country.

He thanked the Forum for identifying his contributions toward national development as an Icon of Nation building by the journalists in Northern Nigeria.
