World Ocean Day: Dumping of Hazardous Waste Responsible for Millions of Aquatic Mammals Extinction

Assistant Director African climate reporters, Dr Piman Hoffman has attributed climate change and human activities as reasons for extinction of many aquatic life.
Continuous dumping of hazardous wastes is harmful to living organisms in the water.
This revealation was made during the
World ocean day’s celebration.
According to him,
“Millions of aquatic mammals face extinctions due to human irrational activities of dumping all sort of trash and garbage into the river and oceans.
“We dump everything in the oceans, including plastic bags and other plastic debris, garbage, and toxic chemicals, crude oil, sewage and nuclear wastes.
Dr Piman noted that plastic pollution has out numbered the amount of marine species in the water thus, millions of aquatic marine are dying silently.
“We kill thousands of aquatic animals daily without knowing the consequences, hence, there is need to halt this ugly attitude. He added.
