Muslim-Muslim Ticket Not The Only Way  To Ruling Party’s Victory – Northern Group

Kaduna, Northwest Nigeria
Northern Nigeria Front for Equity and Good Governance has faulted the claim from some quarters that only Muslim -Muslim ticket can bring victory to the ruling party in the 2023 presidential election.
This claim the group described as misleading during a press conference held at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Secretariat Kaduna.
The President of the Northern Nigeria Front for Equity and Good Governance, Zakariya Abdul’aziz speaking on behalf of the group said Muslims and Christians have for long coexisted peacefully in the north thus, such divisive statements should not be entertained as it is not healthy for the progress of the nation.
The position of such people the group said  is not only incorrect, but an attempt to mislead the good people of the region into thinking that religion or ethnicity is the major determining factor for the voting pattern of the North.
“To say that the choice of a Christain from the north will not guarantee Northern Votes for certain political parties, we find very divisive, careless and callous.
That a Muslim-Muslim ticket is the only way to victory for the ruling party is misleading and very divisive.”
Such voices the group condemned as it is capable of destroying the oneness and unity demonstrated by past northern leaders of blessed memory like late Sardauna and others.
Buttressing their argument with the present composition of the Northern Governors Forum where the leadership is that of a Christian, Governor of Plateau State  Rt. Hon. Simon Bako Lalong as Chairman, where majority are Muslims only proved that such claim is untrue. It the handiwork of evil perpetrators and enemy of progress.
Adding his voice, the General Secretary of the group,Moses Ladan Auta said.
“Northern region has operated as an entity. This they have done regardless of religion, ethnic and other affiliations. It is time to be sensitive of our diversity so that we can ensure the bond of the region for the good of all.
In its clarion call, the group urged
Nigerians to continue to live in peace irrespective of their tribe or religion as there is no such divisive thought.
