NUJ Reiterates its Commitment towards Good Governance, advises Members to be weary of Politicians

The Nigeria Union of Journalists Kaduna State Council has reiterated its commitments towards ensuring good governance in Kaduna state as the interest of the people remains paramount.

This was contained in a communiqué issued from its congress held on Thursday, August 16, 2018  jointly signed by the Council Chairman, Comrade  Adamu Yusuf and Secretary Dauda Idris Doka made available to members.

Members were advised to stick at all times to the ethics of the profession, and also see themselves as an important component of governance.

The Congress held at the Nigeria Union of Journalists Council Secretariat which was chaired by the Council Chairman, Comrade Adamu Yusuf, and the National Vice President, North-West, Comrade Yusuf Idris and other officials of the Council deliberated on number of issues bothering on journalism profession in the state as well as the state of Kaduna State.

With the season of electioneering fast approaching, Journalists are advised to be wary of politicians and making sure that they were never used for any primordial things.

It also commended the National Secretariat particularly the President of the Union for their prompt intervention over the arrest of a Journalist by the police in Abuja.

On Kaduna State, the Congress reiterated its commitment towards governance and said it has no problems with the Government on any issue, but wants to be seen as partners in progress in the interest  of the people of the state.

They therefore commended the government for giving approval to the Council to tour the 23 Local Government Areas in order to see the developmental projects carried out by government within the period under review.  The Congress expressed satisfaction on the level of developments in areas visited.

The Congress however, advised the State Government to act fast on the issues of abandoned projects in some areas of the state and strive to complete such without any further delay.  It sympathized with the Government on the recent flood in part of Kaduna North Local Government Area, and called for a proactive action to forestall another reoccurrence.

It also commended the State Government for it submission of the 2019 Budget on time and urged the State Assembly to expedite action on the issue in the interest of citizens of the state.

The Congress congratulated the Vice President Zone A, Comrade Yusuf Idris for all his activities in running the affairs of the zone without any hitch, and promised to support his second term ambition for the same office in the coming national election. A 6-Man Committee was set up to support his aspiration at the National Delegates Conference slated for Abeokuta, Ogun State, South-West, next month.
