Vibrant and foresighted Hon. Adamu Kabir Umar is an aspirant under the umbrella of All Progressive Congress (APC) whose dream is to take the people of Kaduna state to the next level.
Vying for a seat in the Kaduna State House of Assembly to represent Angwan Sanusi Constituency is the determined and promising lawmaker ‘to be’ who says the game of politics is never new to him as his passion has ever been there since he was born.
Politics he described as a way of life and if elected he would bring his experience to bear to improve the lots of people in his constituency.
Angwan Sanusi constituency comprises Kurmin Marshi, Badikko, SabonGari and Angan Sanusi districts which according to the 2001 census has the population of over 158,578 people.
This Adamu disclosed to newsmen while at the Nigeria Union of journalists (NUJ) secretariat Kaduna for a press conference.
“Myself and my team are determined to represent over 158,749 people that make up our inhabitant with a difference. I have been in politics since l was born. Politics is a way of life and man by nature is a political animal.
“By inclination you are a politician. If you allow it to remain dormant, people would miss-represent you but when you allow it activated, then you are on the right part.
“When I am elected, I will open my doors to the teaming electorates. I will not be incommunicado, I will introduce monthly sitting with party executives, stakeholders, community leaders and elders, the electorates at town hall meetings, committee meetings at different zones within our four wards.” He intimated.
“My duties & Responsibilities as a Member is to scrutinize government policy, existing laws, make new laws, oversight function, protecting the Rights of Citizens, inhabitants etc”.
“While discharging all these, I shall reckon with the need to support the government by both being supportive on the floor and of course by extension working for the best interest of the people that elected me to simply and seriously represent their interest (these interests are not different from any well-meaning human; that requires his or her needs be met.”
Enumerating his plans for his people, sacrifice and determination has been the watchword to taking them to the promise land. He said.
Myself and my team are very much aware that what enders a leader to his people are as simple as accessibility, empathy, show of love, concern and above all be efficient in the course of discharging ones duties.
“As a member, I shall channel my energy to seeing how the children of the poor and less privileged are educated supporting the same standard our Dear Governor aspires and acting upon,” he said.
“Healthcare insurance is of priority to my membership or stewardship. The people deserve comprehensive health care system that takes away 95% or 100% financial burden.
Other areas of responsibilities highlighted includes that of job creation to the teaming youth population, provision of adequate facilities to the physically challenge persons, enhancement of security system in order to improve policing, addressing the lack of qualitative welfare for teachers in both public and private schools.
It would also make available Emergency Food Banks within the constituency. (4wards) A programme he said already is yielding positive impacts on the lives of the electorates.
“What we do is that we get details of people in need within the communities like widows and orphans. We call them as at when due to come for their supplies. It is not something that we publicize. They are identified and given assistance. Someone is in charge and since the person is born and brought up within the community, they are easy to be identified. The programme has been on for long. He informed.
If given the mandate come 2019 he said, he would ensure that the dividend of democracy reaches the doorsteps of members of the communities.
“Yes, some people see politics as a dirty game. That is we want to make a difference. We want to show people that we are not there for largesse. When you give us, we distribute it. That is why l want to advocate for open House deliberation. What comes to me goes to the people. It is a sacrifice and a call l have taken upon myself. If you give me N100, l take N10 l am okay.
“I make bold to say; our motives are what an egalitarian society yearns for. Standard of living is my watch word; equitable distribution of resources remains my drive. Administrative acumen we can say admonishes the whims and caprices of a polity. Errand representative is how l want to be remembered.
