Tribunal judgement: Governor Abba tells supporters to remain calm, heads to court of appeal

Governor Abba of Kano state has called on his supporters to remain calm and law abiding on the recent development of his nullification by the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal in Kano on Wednesday.

Reacting at a press conference held in government house Kano, he said the judgement was riddled with errors and misapplication of law.

His lawyers he informed identified many errors and loopholes in the judgement which he hoped would be corrected at the Court of Appeal.

DAILY NIGERIAN reports that the governor disclosed that the New Nigeria People’s Party, NNPP, had already instructed its legal teams to start processing the appeal as soon as possible.

“There are errors and misapplication of the law as pointed out by my lawyers. There is room for appeal. I have already instructed our legal team to start appeal process as soon as possible”.

Governor Yusuf calling on his supporters for calm assured that the judgement would not dampen his spirit of fulfilling his campaign promises for Kano people, adding that it is a temporary setback that would go soon.

“I call on Kano people to be calm and law abiding. People should not take law in their hands. Security agents are everywhere in the city to ensure law and order.

“I call on my supporters to be calm and go about their lawful businesses and hopeful of reclaiming our mandate in the appeal court,” he said.

“This will never dampen our spirit and it is a temporary setback which would go soon by the will of Allah.

Election Petition Tribunal on the ground of overvoting alleged by the petitioner which it said is true, thereby declaring the candidate of All Progressives Congress, APC, Nasiru Gawuna, winner.
