Pay New Minimum Wage or Face Boycott of 2019 General Elections- Labour tells FG

The Nigerian Labour Congress NLC has called on the Federal Government to do the needful by honoring the tripartite agreement reached on with regards to the payment of the N30,000 new minimum wage to Nigerian workers.
The President of the Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC, Ayuba Wabba has reiterated the union’s stand saying, anything short of that would lead to shut-down of the nation. No going back on its proposed nationwide strike meant to commence on the 6th of November if demand is not met by the federal government. It said.
Also stated, he said non-compliance by government to pay the stated amount of N30,000 minimum wage would lead to non- participation of Nigerian workers in the fort-coming 2019 general elections.
Workers across the country came out to demonstrate their concern on the need for government expidiating action to effecting the payment of the new minimum wage. They argued that by Nigerian constitution workers’ salaries is expected to be reviewed within 5yrs. Any governor that refuses to comply therefore should resign.
Political office holders in Nigeria are said to be the highest paid in the world while the Nigerian workers are left with the meager minimum wage of N18, 000. They said.
Meanwhile, Nigerian Governor Forum NGF has held an emergency meeting to find solution to the lingering problem.
However, labour has maintained its slogan of ‘No Retreat, No Surrender’.
The proposed labour strike for 6th November has been tagged, ‘The Mother of all Strikes’.
