Voters pass verdict on KDHA Speaker  today

Voters in Kaduna today pass verdict on Kaduna state house of assembly speaker in a rerun election that witnessed a mass turn out.

The All Progressives Congress, APC, Alhaji Yusuf Dahiru Liman, and .Mr Solomon Nuhu Katuka of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP are slugging it out in the re- run election.

It will be recalled that the Kaduna Assembly Election Petition Tribunal on September 30 nullified the election of Liman, and ordered a rerun in 42 polling units, 37 in Makera ward, two in Barnawa ward, one in Kakuri Gwari ward, one in Television ward and one in Kakuri Hausa ward.
Not satisfied with the ruling, APC and Dahiru Liman filed an appeal against the judgement of the Tribunal while they also filed a cross appeal seeking for outright declaration.
On the contrary, the Appeal Court judgement in Abuja, delivered by Justice O. O Adejumo, Justice A .O Oyetula and Justice P. A Obiora dismissed the appeal filed by the APC and Liman, ordering a rerun in five polling units of Barnawa wards PU 005 and PU 009, Kakuri Gwari ward PU 006, Television ward PU 022 and Kakuri Hausa ward PU 045.
The votes were APC 17,470 and PDP 17,088 votes

The election at the polling units commenced on schedule as personnel and voting materials were dispatched to the affected polling units on time.

expressed satisfaction with the distribution of the election materials as there were no challenges.

He was optimistic of recording a smooth, free and fair election.

The voting exercise commenced at 8.15 am at polling unit 005 located at Government Day Secondary School Barnawa which has 750 registered voters .

Barnawa Market Road, voting center, 009, 150 voters registered and things

went on smoothly.

In Kakuri Gwari voting center, unit 006, there are 795 registered voters. Voters were already casting their votes as at 9.30. Security presence was more as location is close to Defence Industries Corporation. (DIC)

At Kakuri Hausa, voting unit number 045 at Gora Street, the registered voters stand at 305 with very impressive turn out and voters conducting themselves orderly.

There was an impressive turn out of high spirited men and women voters ready to cast their votes for candidates of their choices and party agents and security agents ensuring that they conduct themselves.

Some election observers interviewed

from both APC and PDP expressed satisfaction on the election process as they hope and prayed that the peaceful atmosphere be sustained and have a

successful election.
