Kuriga Abduction: Moment of relief as Gov Uba Sani receives students

lt was a moment of relief and gratitude to God for Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State and all that witnessed the handing over ceremony of the 137 abducted students and pupils from Kuriga in Chikun Local Government Area.

Governor Uba Sani filled with emotions thanked President Tinubu, the National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, and security agencies for their untiring commitments to ensuring the safe return of the children.

Receiving the rescued children in government house, the Governor reiterated his administration’s commitments in ensuring the safety of lives and properties of the citizenry.  Security he said is top priority of his administration.

He called for collaborative support and unity of the citizens in moving the state forward as he cautioned against all forms of acts that could undermine the efforts of the security agencies.

Major General Mayirenso Saraso, the General Officer Commanding 1 Division of the Nigerian Army, had attributed the 16 days, successful operation to the coordinated guidance of the President,

Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA and security agencies.

Out of the total liberated 137 abducted schoolchildren, six of them he said are presently hospitalized and receiving medical care at an Army facility.

Sadly, Mr. Abubakar, a staff of the school lost his life while in captivity.

General Saraso intimated that the rescued students underwent psychosocial therapy at a women’s and children’s shelter in Kaduna City before reuniting with their parents.
