*NASFAT Youth Wing Launches “Say No to Betting” Campaign for Lasting Success*

The Nasrul-Lahi-L-Fatih Society of Nigeria (NASFAT) Youth Wing has embarked on an inspiring campaign titled “Say No to Betting,” led by Brother Soile Lukmon Toyosi, National Youth Public Relations Secretary, and guided by the National Amir, Brother Olasupo Tajudeen. This month-long initiative, launched on November 1st, is directed at helping Nigerian youth make responsible choices that align with Islamic values.

Betting has become a growing issue among youth, with alarming statistics showing that approximately ₦730 billion (about $1.5 billion) annually on gambling in Nigeria.

NASFAT’s campaign aims to highlight the significant financial and psychological risks associated with gambling. By encouraging youth to invest in halal avenues of success, the campaign seeks to promote peace and fulfillment over fleeting, high-risk rewards.

In a statement dated November 4, 2024, signed by the National Public Relations Secretary, Nasrul-Lahi-L-Fatih Society (NASFAT),

“Islamic doctrine provides a strong foundation for the campaign’s message. The Quran, particularly in Surah Al-Baqarah (2:219) and Surah Al-Ma’idah (5:90-91), explicitly warns against gambling, categorizing it as haram (forbidden). Through these verses, NASFAT seeks to remind young Muslims of the importance of making ethical choices that honor their faith.

“Throughout November, the campaign will leverage NASFAT Youth Wing’s social media platforms to share messages, videos, and testimonials that educate youth about the risks of betting. Additionally, the initiative offers support resources for individuals struggling with betting addiction, encouraging them to seek help and embrace healthier habits.

The “Say No to Betting” campaign underscores the commitment of NASFAT leaders, including President Alhaji Ayodeji AbdulWahid AbdulRauf and Chief Missioner Imam Maroofdeen AbdulAzeez Onike. Together, they support this transformative effort to foster a more conscious, financially responsible, and spiritually guided generation.

“With a focus on education, counseling, and prayer, NASFAT Youth Wing’s campaign is set to positively impact Nigerian youth.
